BRYAN CINQ-MARS
Date of Passing: Dec 16, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRYAN CINQ-MARS On Sunday, December 16, 2012, Bryan Cinq-Mars passed away suddenly at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 62 years. Bryan was predeceased by his parents Hilaire (Mickey) in 2003 and Merlyn in 2010. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 40 years, Lydia (nee Kornelsen), son Jamie and wife Loretta, daughter Karen and husband Ron Adams; grandchildren Brady and Alexa Cinq-Mars (and their mother Betty), Brooke, Jake and Eva Adams. Also left to mourn are his brother Mervin and wife Clair; nephews Mervin Jr. and Jason and their families. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Dora and many close brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews from his Kornelsen family who will miss him and remember him with fondness. Bryan was born in St. Boniface on April 28, during the flood of 1950. He grew up in Windsor Park and Ste. Anne, MB. He owned and operated his own roofing and construction company for many years. Prior to his early retirement he worked as maintenance coordinator at Columbus Manor and continued as Roofing Consultant for Lance Roofing. He had over 25 years of dedicated service to the Knights of Columbus, Norwood Council, volunteering countless hours of service in support of various charities. Although Bryan battled through some difficult health struggles during the last five years he will be remembered as a man who loved to laugh and who was particularly proud of all his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors: camping with family and friends, going fishing (summer and winter), gardening and when he was healthier: cycling, boating and canoeing. Bryan had many talents, from artist to wood worker, from fixer of all things to master chef. We will continue to feel his presence through his many paintings and wood work pieces. He guarded his secret recipes for spaghetti sauce, raspberry ribs and special fish coating and only shared them sparingly. Cooking a family meal for birthdays and special holidays was one of his great joys, as well as cooking in general, whether for two or 200 he was always up to the task! He was always ready to lend a hand, a good friend to many and never passed on an opportunity to help those in need. Ultimately, he found the most peace while out on his fishing boat or in the ice fishing shack. He was a nine time Master Angler and enjoyed sharing his fishing expertise and comparing fishing stories. A celebration of Bryan's life will be held Thursday, December 20, 2012 in Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc St., at 1:00 p.m., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family encourages everyone to sign up to be an organ donor through www.signupforlife.ca E.J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

I live in Austin Texas, and grew up in Windsor park and was a good friend, back when we where growing up. We used to hang out at Bryan's parents pad and have a few beers while they where bowling and then off to the Windsor park rec center dance. He was a great guy and always had your back, and was extremely honest, and was a good friend during those times, I am 62 as well, and have thought about him over the years. You have my deepest regrets, and he was not rough around the edges as mentioned, just well seasoned, Take care buddy I will cya some day, and have a good laugh. - Posted by: drew johnson (close friend) on: Dec 26, 2012

My condolences goes out to entire Cinq-Mars family. Lydia, Karen, and Jamie, I have so many memories of the times we spent together. I will miss Bryan's sense of humor, his fabulous cooking, and the card games. We drank many a cups of coffee, and spent many hours chatting, about nothing, and everything. God speed Bryan, until we meet again. - Posted by: Lise Dumont-Jarvis (Friend) on: Dec 23, 2012

Lydia and Family, We were honored to have you visit us in 2009 and to have our families connected. We often think of you and ask our Kids about you. We were so saddened this week to hear of your loss. We so enjoyed Bryan's optimism and outlook in life. We are praying for your comfort and encouragement through these hard times. The Lord promises to see us through the most difficult of days, and His promises never fail. May you sense His presence and loving arms around you. And may the gift of His love be more real for you than ever as you find your way forward. God bless you each day with what you need for each day. We send this along to you with our prayers and love. I was so saddened to hear about Bryan's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you Lydia and your family. I know it has been a long time since we have seen each other but I have fond memories of the 2 of you. I will not be able to come to the funeral as I cannot get time off work at this time of year (year end). But I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and your family. Please take care and call me if you ever need to talk. Love Diane - Posted by: Diane Champagne (old friend) on: Dec 20, 2012
