MARGARET ELIZABETH BURZUIK-LEE (nee MCRAE) Our most beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away surrounded by the love of her family on December 20, 2012, at the Selkirk District General Hospital. She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Judy) Burzuik, Garry (Lori) Burzuik, Michael (Miriam) Burzuik, her daughters, Sandra Kurbis and Joan Burzuik, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Dorothy Burzuik, brother-in-law Gerry Barnard, aunt Phyllis Kirton, cousin Mike Burzuik Sr., many special nieces and nephews, extended family, Debbie and Gord Tepleski, Carole Railton, Laurie Barylski, and so many dear friends. Predeceased by husbands Norman Burzuik and Walter Lee, her parents Neil and Mary McRae, brothers Colin (Martina) McIvor and Neil McRae, son-in-law Bill Beaton, and dear friend Jean Cromarty. Betty was born and raised at the McRae homestead in Clandeboye, MB, where she had many treasured memories. She worked in healthcare at the Denver TB Hospital, SMHC, Selkirk Nursing Home. She married Norman and together they raised their children. They ran their business, South Main Autobody until Dad's illness forced early retirement. They then travelled, endlessly picked raspberries in their garden, and spent time with their growing family. After Dad's passing, she did various jobs including private homecare, and finally working at the Garden on Eaton Tea House, which she enjoyed immensely until her retirement. Mom was blessed with love again, marrying Walter Lee in 2003. He brought with him family and many more dear friends. Nana had many hobbies, most planned around providing for her family and friends. She was a faithful member of St. Clements Anglican Church, she volunteered at SDGH, was a 40 year member of the Royal Canadian Selkirk Legion, Over 60 Club, and the Gordon Howard Centre where she enjoyed painting her beautiful pictures. Mom's greatest love was for her family; she was a devoted kind, compassionate, and hardworking daughter, mother, wife, and Nana, caring for not only hers, but many other families whom she welcomed into her home with open arms and love. We are blessed to have such precious years with our Nana, we all loved her laughter, her wisdom, infectious joy for life, and her unconditional love; will all miss her dearly. A Memorial Service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home on December 27, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. with the Venerable Archdeacon Godfrey Mawejje officiating with the Reverend Ken Pollock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palliative Care at the SDGH, Canadian Diabetes Association, or Mapleton School Playground Fund. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
