FELICE GUZZI On Saturday, December 29, 2012, after a lengthy illness, we announce the sad but peaceful passing of our Dad, Felice Guzzi, who left us at the age of 87 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Margherita, and four daughters, Giovanna (Rocco) DeStefano, Maria (Domenico) Gagliardi, Laura (Mick) Rossi, and Francesca (Michael) Hawthorne. He also leaves ten wonderful grandchildren Nick (Linda), Felice (Simona), Michael (Jessica), Angela (Brad), Margherita (Jessen), Sussana, Sabrina, Tony, Joshua and Amanda...as well as seven great-grandchildren (Nicolas, Mateo, Rocco, Michela, Sofia, Josephine and Madelyn). He is also survived by his brother Angelo (Francesca), sister Rosina Marsico (Italy), sister Francesca Guzzi (Argentina), and sister-in-laws Anna Guzzi and Guiseppina Guzzi (Italy); as well as several extended relatives in Italy, Argentina and Winnipeg. Dad is predeceased by his parents Francesco and Giovanna Guzzi, as well as his brothers Carlo, Agostino and Luigi; sister-in-law Rosa Guzzi, and brother-in-laws Pasquale Marsico and Antonio Guzzi, and nephew Frank Guzzi. Dad was born on December 23, 1925 in Miglierina, Calabria, Italy. Dad met Mom when they were both young teenagers having started their relationship seven years before they married. Mom and Dad were happily married for 62 years thereafter. They started their family in Italy with their first two daughters; Giovanna and Maria. In 1955, they immigrated to Buenos Aires where they continued their lives for the next six years. Finally after landing and firmly planting his feet in Winnipeg in 1961 (Followed by Mom, and his two daughters in 1963), Dad and Mom completed their family with the birth of their next two daughters Laura and Francesca. Dad was a very friendly, hard working man who enjoyed being surrounded by his family. He appreciated the simple things in life...family, food and his homemade wine. His smile and joyful laughter will be missed by us all. For many years Dad worked in construction as a brick layer and cement finisher until his retirement in 1985. But since have all benefitted from his talented use of hands in our own homes from our fences, decks, walkways and more. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m at Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Avenue with Father Michael Koryluk as the Celebrant, viewing in church will begin at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow Mass in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Avenue. Active Pallbearers will be Nick DeStefano, Felice DeStefano, Michael Gagliardi, Tony Rossi, Brad McInnis, and Jessen Appasamy; and Honourary Pallbearer will be Joshua Hawthorne.
