Tears fill my eyes to hear this news. My Uncle Charlie was a WWII hero and rightfully honoured by a town in France that welcomed his whole family in the 70's to commemorate him and his heroic efforts. The town searched long to find out the name of their unsung hero. He was a motorcycle soldier with flowers in the mesh of his helmet riding in to let them know this awful war they all endured had finally ended. My childhood memories are full of good times at his family cabin in Petersfield where we were all welcomed and treated like royalty, in my memories at least. I went looking for this cabin of good memories last summer and found Rob still lives right next door with his family and the next generation, with the old beloved cabin still there. I loved my Uncle Charlie and he will always be a hero to me. Pauline, Rob and families, I know the pain loss brings and wish I could be there to share in the stories I am sure will be shared and the laughs such stories are also sure to bring. Uncle Charlie was a character and his life comes with good stories to share. My thoughts and prayers are with you all including our tante Angele. She is a very good little sister and Aunt who has helped us all with the passing of her siblings. Another hero in our family. Godspeed to you all. - Posted by: Diane Chopek (Niece) on: Jan 09, 2013
