GARRY KOHUCH
Born: Dec 17, 1955
Date of Passing: Jan 12, 1988
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARRY KOHUCH In loving memory of Garry Kohuch, who was born on December 17, 1955, and who passed away 25 years ago, on January 12, 1988. Second born, then three more came Passion was his middle name Older brother, teacher like his Dad Lived more than a person can Loved to sing, a gentle man Grateful for the music that we had Told his story, cast a spell Good with words, and listened well Always seemed to know just what to say Cared more than a heart can hold Through his lens, the world was gold Wonder what he'd share with us today... We still wonder, Garry, how many wonderful photos, stories, songs and dances you would have shared with us, if given the gift of more time. But, we shake our heads in amazement at how much you accomplished in your brief time here. Students still talk about what a fantastic teacher you were; your sheet music is still used in churches across the prairies; memories are still shared, in gratitude. We miss you and always will. But, more than ever, we know how blessed we are to have had you for a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend. We take comfort that you must be sharing songs with Mom, now. Maybe even a fox-trot. And, we think of you, Garry, when we see a sunshower: happy, yet tears. Vichnaya Pamyat. May Your Memory Be Eternal - The Kohuch family

I attended high school with Garry and we carpooled together, with some other friends, during my first year at U of M. I was shocked to just learn of his death as he was so healhty and such an athlete with his dancing. We went to a Halloween dance one year dressed as monkeys and we stopped at a grocery store to buy bananas in full costme and mask. I was driving that night and he came running out of the grocery store yelling that the manager had called the police as he thought it was a robbery. We had to buy bananas at another store. Garry came to visit me once when I was living in Ottawa and he told many stories of his teaching experiences. I have never forgotten him and the world is a lesser place with Garry not in it. There is a saying that life is measured not by the amount of breaths you take but by how many moments take your breath away. Garry had many wonderful life moments and he deserved to have more of them. I am saddened by the news that is new to me. :{ Rosemary - Posted by: Rosemary Goodchild (Was a student at John Taylor Collegiate with Garry and attended U of M first year before I moved to) on: Nov 30, 2015

In the late 1970's, Garry and I taught on the same staff in Roblin. Both quite new teachers at the time, we often worked at school in the evening, preparing our lessons and marking. Garry was a sensitive, brilliant teacher who cared deeply about his students. He was also a very witty, talented, well-rounded individual. He was a great person to get to know, and I will never forget him. - Posted by: Francis J. Bird (Co-Worker) on: Nov 13, 2013
