GLADYS HOCALUK (nee FOLSTER) Peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Selkirk Betel Home, Gladys Hocaluk aged 90 years of Selkirk, Manitoba passed away. Gladys was predeceased by her husband John on March 10, 2002; her parents James and Eliza Folster; brothers Dave and Ernest; sister Agnes; granddaughter Geraldine Hocaluk; brothers-in-law Isaac Greening, Peter and Mike Hocaluk, and sisters-in-law Adeline and Helen Hocaluk and Nellie Greening. Gladys is survived by her son Lawrence (Doreen); grandsons Allen (Charlene), Lawrence Jr. (Vanessa), Jason (Shawna); great-grandchildren Caleigh, Brendon, Brent, Dallon, Shannon, Blaine, Gerrall, Callum, Loralee, Lawrence Jr., Nakoda, and Washta, and two great-great-grandsons Jordan and Landon. Gladys was born and raised in Scanterbury, Manitoba. For all who knew Gladys, she spent most of her life working very hard farming with her husband John, and raising their only son Lawrence. Gladys enjoyed her summers gardening, making meals for the workers, making hay in the fields, and taking care of the cows. Gladys was known for her kindness and always giving a helping hand. She also loved spending time with family and friends. Gladys will be missed by many friends she had at the Parkview Manor in Selkirk, and in July 2012, she moved to the Betel Home in Selkirk where she spent her last months, where she enjoyed the company of new friends and the wonderful staff that took great care of her. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Betel Home for the exceptional care of our mom/grandma. Prayers were said on Tuesday, January 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel.
