FRANCESCO TUMMILLO
Date of Passing: Jan 16, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCESCO TUMMILLO November 20, 1946 - January 16, 2013 On Wednesday, January 16, 2013, peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones, Francesco Tummillo passed away at the age of 66, after a year long battle with cancer. Francesco was born on November 20, 1946, in Muro Lucano, Italy. He moved to Canada in 1966, to join his fiancé, Pompea, who were married for nearly 47 years. Francesco and Pompea proudly raised three children, twin daughters Rosa (Darell) Claeys, Natalina (Rick) Urso, and his endearing son Gerardo (Lorressa). Francesco was especially proud of this three grandchildren Andrew (Monica), Maria and Christina. He leaves behind two sisters Antonetta and Bridgetta in Italy, nephew Tony (Teresa) Lamorte and numerous in-laws and family in Winnipeg. Francesco was predeceased by his parents Gerardo and Rosa-Maria Tummillo and in-laws Pietro and Maria Rondinone. Francesco (Frank) Tummillo was a man who truly proved that people are defined by their actions and not the words they speak. Frank enjoyed being surrounded by his family, enjoyed summers at the Oasis Beach, building fires and sharing stories with neighbours and family over a glass of wine. He will always be remembered for his incredible work ethic and masterful ability to create stunning work out of concrete and brick. There is not a block in Winnipeg that Frank has not placed a sidewalk or driveway and has left his signature mark on. Frank was adored by his grandchildren and loved by his children. He will be missed but never forgotten. He and his wife Pompea were in love at the age of 15, and even at the final hours he raised enough fight to kiss his soul mate, a gesture that represented the man and husband he was. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Mark Kristjanson and Dr.Tunji Fatoye; as well the nursing team at Seven Oaks Oncology; and the endearing care of the team of nurses and aids at Seven Oaks Hospital- 4 unit 7. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Francesco's name to CancerCare Manitoba. Prayers will be said on Monday, January 21, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of the Resurrection will follow on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. also in the church. Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Entombment to follow at Holy Angel Mausoleum on Hwy. #1.
