PETER SKROMEDA Peacefully with his family by his side Peter passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 76. Dad was born on March 25, 1936 in Selkirk, MB and was predeceased by his wife Marilynn (2006); father Mike (2000); mother Anne (1972); sister Lily (2006). Marilynn and Peter enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. He leaves to mourn his three children Kim (Dan), Debbie and Warren (Veronica); five granddaughters Brianna, Melissa, Hillary, Kirstyn, Julia and his sister Elizabeth Wolanski, as well as close family and friends. At the age of 22 dad received his journeyman certificate as a qualified sheet metal worker, and over a four year period he worked at Fleming Pedlar, Camco and Redboine Sheet Metal. In 1962 he started Skromeda Sheet Metal Ltd. Dad enjoyed his work and was still active in the day to day operations of the family business up until his passing. Dad was also experienced in the construction trade, and he built the shop for the family business, his home(s) and the family cottage at Ponemah. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, travelling, attending his granddaughter's many ringette games. A Friday afternoon favorite was going to the all you can eat perogy dinner in support of the local churches. Dad took great pride in his garden and made sure the entire family had fresh vegetables in the summer and homemade soups in the winter. He was a man that enjoyed nature and the outdoors, and would spend all day in the bush picking mushrooms or blueberries. Special thanks to all the family members and friends that visited and supported dad at Seven Oaks Hospital. We would also like to thank the staff on Unit 5 third floor and Drs. Bialy, Finlayson and Taraska, for the excellent care dad received during a very difficult time. A memorial service will be held at St. Anne's Anglican Church, 253 Burrin Ave. on Friday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. Luncheon to follow with a private family interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rossdale, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare MB Challenge for Life 2013 under Deb Fay Heart of Safeway Team or the Siloam Mission. Remembering him from many years ago when Debbie and I went to school and played Ringette together. I'll never forget him coming to my rescue during a game, when the blade came off my skate and he fixed it right in the box so I could finish the game! A man with a big heart! God bless all of you from the Hilderman family. You are in our prayers. - Posted by: Erin Hilderman (Friend from the past) on: Jan 22, 2013
