CHRISTOPHER ERNEST ARNS
Born: Nov 13, 1979
Date of Passing: Jan 17, 2013
Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTOPHER ERNEST ARNS During one of his many passions, while snowmobiling, Chris suffered a fatal accident. Chris leaves behind his wife of 11 years, Nicole, his beloved children Taren (9) and Reese (4), his loving brother Jeremy (Chelsea), sister Kelly, and parents Cindy and Ernest. He will also be sadly missed by all of his extended family and (thousands) of close friends. Chris was born in Thompson, MB on November 13, 1979, five weeks early and in a hurry to meet the world. Chris' family moved to Teulon, MB in 1981 where he started school and his ever energetic ways proved that he would always live life to the fullest. In 1987 his family moved to Ashern, MB which would later be known as home, and was where he completed his schooling, graduating in 1998. Chris was the biggest hearted person you could ever have in your life. He did everything with such passion and zest. He packed more into his short 33 years than others could in a lifetime. Chris loved sports: fishing, hunting, baseball, hockey, golf, quadding, and yes, snowmobiling. He had such a natural ability and talent. Chris found his calling eight years ago as a paramedic. He was meant to help people and was great at it. You couldn't ask for a better mix of expertise and compassion. He had so many good friends, and everywhere he went, he made new ones. He was the life of the party. He lived life hard, because there was no other way for him. He put his whole heart and soul into everything he did. WE WILL ALL MISS YOU VERY MUCH, WE LOVE YOU CHRIS! A celebration of Chris' life will be held in his memory at the Moosehorn Community Hall on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Ashern Arena Board, P.O. Box 567, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593

Chris, you were the best man at my sister Valerie's (& James) wedding last summer. I was the maid of honour and English is not my first language. You made us all comfortable; It was quite stressful to do the French animation-speech part, but everything went smoothly with you very dynamic easy-going personality and contagious happiness. You managed quite well all the twisty - family situations that could happen in a wedding ! I learned the very sad news tonight, as Valerie was out of the with her family. I worked in health care too, we chit-chat about it as well. I am not surprised to see so many messages from co-workers and nurses. All my condolences to your family. - Posted by: Sophie Sanfacon (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2013

I met Chris when I started working as a paramedic for the interlake. I didn't take long to realize that he was full of life and laughs. I always had fun working with him. He spoke highly of his wife and children. It was easy to see how much he loved his family. Rest in peace Chris. You will be forever remembered and sadly missed. - Posted by: Shannon Dudych (Former coworker) on: Jan 30, 2013

The news of Chris's passing was surreal and I'm not sure it ever will feel real. His laughter was contageous, his character exhuberant, and his heart as big as the world. I went to highschool with Chris and have so many memories filled with laughter and fun! I also worked with his mom Cindy who showed me where Chris got his energy from. I am sorry I could not attend the memorial service but my thoughts and prayers are with Chris's family & all his friends as we remember Chris & keep his memory alive. - Posted by: Tyla Turman (highschool friend) on: Jan 28, 2013

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Truly, Chris lived a life full of passion and charisma! Some of my fondest, funny memories of attending high school can relate in some way to Chris, Jeremy or even Cindy and Ernie! From Ashern socials to trading sandwiches with Chris in class! Cindy, they were the best! :) I pray that during this time of sorrow, the Lord will give you strength, peace that surpasses all understanding, and love. Embrace the compassion and take things one day at a time. I'm sorry I could not be in attendance to share in his celebration today, but my heart is with you all. To the ARNS family,... It's really hard to find the words, that one could express at a time like this. Chris was a person that I have known since going to high school in Ashern. I watched Chris play hockey, and he too attended different functions with his father, which I admired that bond so much. Ernie, I regret not being able to attend, but friends from the past, extend their condolences, Gordie Schurr, Al Rabut, Greg Ericson... the Old Gyp Crew. This is such an untimely loss... My heart goes out to you and your family. Cliffy Halaburda. - Posted by: Cliff Jr Halaburda (Friend) on: Jan 21, 2013

I worked with Ernie in Teulon in 1983. Chris was a little boy then, but I have always remembered your family. Ironically, I now work in EMS and recognized Chris's name a few years back, and realized he was your son. That little boy turned into a wonderful man! My condolences, Cindy and Ernie. May your memories of Chris grant you comfort. My thoughts are with you during this very difficult time. - Posted by: Melanie Babiuk (Schlippert) () on: Jan 21, 2013

Chris and I became good friends in school, We played hockey together and often skated at public skating. We would sometimes get a group together to play football after school, or play a round of golf. I will always remember that Chris would often like to come to our farm and ride our ponies/horses and motorbikes throughout the summer break and I will never forget our grad, Chris drove all the way out to my parents to pick me up to take me to our grad. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Chris and his family. You will never be forgotten Chris. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Krystal Kochie (Wurtak) (Friend ) on: Jan 21, 2013

Ern, Cindy, Jeremy, Kelly, Nicole, Taren and Reese: We are heartbroken about Chris's passing and would love to be with you at this time. He indeed was passionate about many things and in particular his family. We remember the Christmas we spent in Ashern and Chris had gotten a CD with the song "I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) and played it constantly. Over the years, every time we heard the song we would have a chuckle and say "Here's Chris's song again". We will certainly embrace the song now more than ever. Cherish your loving memories of Chris and he will be in all of our hearts forever - Posted by: Karl and Alice Arns (Uncle and Aunt) on: Jan 21, 2013

Played a lot of hockey against Chris I think we even fought a couple times. Chris then got on with the Gimli irha EMS and pulled on a Wolves sweater it didn't take long to realize that he wore it proudly and had your back. Definitely a good sportsman and stand up guy. Keep on skating Chris - Posted by: Mark (Gimli wolves) (Teammate ) on: Jan 21, 2013

When the Arns family moved to Ashern, Chris and Jeremy became part of our group of friends. We spent all our free time playing hockey or football, and Chris was always there in the middle. You could see the drive and single minded determination even then. Often I'd referee many of his minor hockey games.....I don't think I've ever given a kid so many penalties, he was just so set on trying to help his team win! He was a force, that burned exceptionally bright with a personality larger than life itself. People like him are rare in this life which is why they leave such a big hole when they are gone. My thoughts and prayers are with Nicole, Cindy, Ernie and all of his extended family in this difficult time. - Posted by: Justin Chubaty (School Friend) on: Jan 21, 2013

I met Chris many years ago through a mutual acquaintance. Even though I got to know him for a short while and didn't stay in touch I do remember how full of life he was and how welcomed he made me feel when I met him. You could tell he was a person who wanted to live life to the fullest and took advantage of every minute to do so. It is sad to see such a great spirit live this world so soon but the memories he leaves behind and his legacy will allow him to continue to love on. Part of him will always will be present through his beautiful children. Physically he may be gone but the love and the memories will live on forever. My sincere condolences to his wife, children, parents, siblings, and his many friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Chris may you rest in peace and may you continue to do what you do best "love life to the fullest"! God Bless! Cheers! - Posted by: Beatriz Martinez () on: Jan 19, 2013

Chris I have so many great memories right from high school including all of us driving around at lunch in the Bonneville, you showing me new songs that you found and then going to class getting in trouble because we talked too much. I watched you guys play hockey every winter traveling around together. Those were some really great times! During summer playing baseball we loved to win but it was the socializing after that we all looked forward to. Your loud laugh and big smile was so contagious that I will never forget it. I miss you already my friend. My condolences go out to the family. RIP Chris! - Posted by: Kathy Halldorson (Friend ) on: Jan 19, 2013

Chris, although when I first met you in Gimli 5 years ago I was unsure what to think of you, it didn't take long for you to grow on me. Your passing came as such a shock to everyone with many of us in disbelief at the news the morning when we came into work. My hubby even remembers you as a fun-loving guy from the few times he met you. The fact that he remembers you at all must mean you left a great impression (as he often doesn't remember my friends and co-workers if he has only met them a few times). Our thoughts and prayers for Nicole and the kids and everyone else touched by this tragedy. The EMS community will mourn your loss alongside your family and friends. May you keep doing what you do best for eternity! - Posted by: Kristen (Co-Worker) on: Jan 19, 2013

Watching Chris play hockey one memorable moment that I will never forget. Chris was playing for the Ashern Hornets Senior team and levelled Darcy Pelletier. When he came back to the bench he was clearly scared. He was sure retaliation was coming. After Darcy got up, he skated right over to the Ashern bench and up to Chris. Everybody on the bench was backing up. Darcy said "Nice check kid" and skated back to his bench. Chris had a grin on his face and went back about his business about playing his game. He gained a lot of respect at that time and that goes for how he lived his life. Straight ahead and full tilt. Kudos Chris. We'll miss you. - Posted by: Marty and Tracey Betke (Family freind) on: Jan 19, 2013
