GEORGETTE HOULE (née BRAIS) July 12, 1926 January 23, 2013 It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Georgette leaves to mourn her son Aurèle (Laurette) and daughters Jo-Anne and Anne-Marie. She will be remembered by her grandchildren Jérémie, Joseph (Jody), Félix (Heidi), Jacinthe (Rodney), Ghislain, Amaël (Carlee), Daniel (Sylvie), Muriel (Trevor), Roxanne (Jacques), Marc, Louis (Sylvie), Deanne and her great-grandchildren, Kylie, Alex, Blake, Noah, Skylar and Emma. She also leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Fleur-Ange (Richard) Scott and Françoise (Georges) Gooveart, three sisters-in-law Ruth, Hélène, and Eva Brais and a brother-in-law Fernand Remillard, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur and her sons-in-law Robert and Maurice Fillion, her sisters Thérèse (Raphaël) Vuignier, Rose-Marie (Raymond) Petit, Renée Remillard, Aline (Robert) McKay, Jeannette (Antonio) Velcich, Germaine Brais, and her brothers Marcel, Alexis (Desneiges), Etienne, Georges, and Gilles. Mom was an exceptional woman; she touched the lives of everyone even if it was just a chance meeting or a lifetime of friendships. Mom sacrificed her education to stay home to help her mother raise her own brothers and sisters, went on to have her own children and embraced the company of her grandchildren. She had strong family values which reflect in her own children. The 1950 flood is what brought Mom and Dad together. They were married on October 4, 1952. Even though they started their lives in the city, St. Joseph was always her home. Mom loved to cook and organize family gatherings and bonfires. Her kitchen was always open to company. She loved to play cards but singing and praying were her passions. She was a strong and courageous woman and due to her faith in God, she survived the many challenges that life threw at her. She is finally reunited with the love of her life. Mom and Dad, Memère and Pepère, we love you and miss you with all our hearts. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ken Kleiwer and the staff at the Altona Health Centre for providing our mother with many years of exceptional care. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing prior to the service at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, St. Joseph, MB. Mass will be officiated by Father Patrice Kasonga. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
