Date of Passing: Jan 16, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA THOMPSON FELDMANN (KANE) October 9, 1922 - January 16, 2013 After a lengthy battle with the indignities of aging, Barbara passed away peacefully at the Misericordia Interim Care Unit in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Barbara was born and raised in Winnipeg where she met the love of her life, Gordon (Gordie). She worked as an insurance adjuster in Winnipeg before spending some time in Flin Flon and Bakers Narrows where Gordon worked for HBM S as a civil engineer. In 1956, the family moved back to Winnipeg She and Gordon spent many years as members of the Winnipeg Winter Club participating in bowling and curling. She was an avid bridge player and swimmer, she enjoyed doing crafts and painting. Her paintings are enjoyed in many homes of family and friends. In the 1970s she compiled a book The Tree From Whence We're Hewn which traced both her and Gordon's ancestors back to the 16th century. This took many years of research without the aid of a computer. Many happy times were spent at her favorite place, the cabin at Ponemah Beach. It was there that the families gathered every summer enjoying the beach and the close knit community. Her favorite time was the "three o'clock swim" when neighbours met on the pier for swimming and visiting. Barbara even managed one last swim there at the age of 88. She is survived by three daughters Dianne (Bryce) Johnson, Linda Miller both of Calgary and Sheila Psoch of Winnipeg. Five grandchildren, Vanessa (Ryan) Fleishman, Robin (Martin) Jensen, Ryan (Deserie) Johnson of Calgary, Tyler Miller of Chicago, and Sean Miller of Woodbridge, VA. Seven great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Annika, and Jack Jensen, Ava and Isabel Fleishman, and Brycen and Layten Johnson (who will miss their special visits with Big Grandma ) and brother Allan Kane of Kelowna. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Feldmann and parents Thomas and Saidie Kane. Barbara will be dearly missed and remembered for her strong will and unmatched wit. She left us all with many great memories, and as she liked to say "I did it my way". We would like to express a special thank you to all the kind and caring people who have helped our mom over the past years who include the staff at Misericordia Interim Care, Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence, neighbours, friends and family. A service will be held at a later date a later date in late spring or early summer at the family cottage. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Barbara & Gordon were neighbors to my parents, Ethel & Frank Pearson & my brother Wayne Pearson for many years on Holly Ave. When Barbara wasn't able to drive anymore Wayne was able to drive her to see Gordon. She was a very determined lady with a great sense of humour. - Posted by: Ray & Heather Wright (neighbors & friend) on: Jan 29, 2013

To put into a few words of the wonderful relationship my parents & our family had with both Barb & Gord Feldmamm is hard. It was our Flin Flon connection that they told us about the Ponemah Cottage for sale close to their cottage (41 years ago). So many wonderful times together including the 3 pm swim. Barb was such a fun person to be with. She will be greatly missed. Julia Wallin - Posted by: Julia (Lewthwaite) Wallin (Ponemah friend for 41 years (also X - Flin Flon friend)) on: Jan 27, 2013
