GEORGE JOSEPH FIFI Peacefully at the Lorne Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, Mr. George Fifi of Swan Lake, MB passed away at the age of 75 years. He is survived by his loving wife Frances (nee Van Cauwenberghe); seven siblings, Jean (Mathilde), Armand (Angele), Marie-Rose (Andre) Godard, Yvette (Armand) Hacault, Noel, Tharsile (Leonard) Foidart and Henriette (Elmer) Mauws. He also leaves to mourn Fran’s family, Eddie (Elaine), Bonnie Vandevord and Benny (Diane); and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. George was predeceased by his parents Henri Fifi and Marie-Jeanne (née Baccus); two brothers, Br. Adolphe and Hubert; and by his |in-laws Rene Van Cauwenberghe and Mary (née De Roo). George was born June 16, 1937, at the family farm near St. Alphonse, Manitoba. George attended school in St. Alphonse, Bruxelles and Winnipeg. On June 1, 1963, at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Swan Lake, MB, George married Irene Frances Van Cauwenberghe. They lived in Winnipeg from 1963 to 1968, then moved to the family farm in St. Alphonse. They farmed together until 1993, when they retired and moved to Swan Lake in 1998. George loved travelling, Belgian bowling and curling. He also enjoyed his yard and gardening and the company of family and friends. Funeral Services will be held in the
St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Swan Lake, MB, on Monday, January 28, 2013. Prayers at 1:30 p.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. with Father Armand Le Gal officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Lorne Memorial Health Foundation (Palliative Care), Box 40, Swan Lake, MB R0G 2S0 or to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Avenue East, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
