WALTER JOHN (JACK) SMITH May 26, 1954 - January 25, 2013 Peacefully with his family by his side, Jack passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Verna Smith; father-in-law Walter Bochen and brothers-in-law Ken Grove and Don Skromeda. Mourning his loss is his wife Sharon; children Trevor (Cynthia) and Teri (Adam); grandchildren Belle, Adhara, Holdyn, Taryn and Leland; sister Donna; brothers George, Jim (Doreen) and Kenny; mother-in-law Sophie Bochen; sister-in-law Marilyn Skromeda and brother-in-law Wayne Bochen; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jack was employed at Gerdau MRM for 35 years. Before working at the mill for a short period of time he also worked at Goodbrandsons Transfer and Electro Knit. In memory of Jack, donations may be made to the Selkirk Palliative Care Unit, Children's Wish Foundation or a charity of one's choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m. in the Christ Church, 227 McLean Ave, Selkirk, MB. A special thank you to Dr. Zoppa and the nurses on the medical ward for their wonderful compassion and care. Also a big thank you to the Palliative Care coordinator Ginny Colemand, CancerCare Dr. Gary Harding and Debbie Scott. Also a special thank you to all of Jack's friends and coworkers for all the visits, calls and support that was given to him.
