ELMA HOFFMAN With Mom's family around her Elma Hoffman peacefully passed into her eternal home, at the age of 95, to be reunited with her husband Samuel, her son Wayne, and her great-grandson Kaden, who had preceded her. She will be missed by her children: Daphne Keck (Wilmard), Dale Hoffman (Mary Ann), Roland Hoffman (Noella); seven grandchildren and their spouses; eight great-grandchildren, plus numerous friends and relatives who always had a special place in her heart. Mom was born in Carbon, Alberta to John and Christina Neher, marrying Samuel Hoffman in 1945 and moving to Morris, Manitoba. Words are inadequate to describe the special person our mother was, making our home a place where everyone felt welcome, loved, accepted and well fed. Her strong faith and positive, joyful attitude sustained her as she weathered the various trials of farming life, floods, several bouts of cancer, and the deaths of her son and husband. She gave freely of herself in service to her church and community, and, of course, to her family, encouraging and sacrificially supporting them in their ventures. She worked at Murray's General Store for many years, plus aided our father in farming and his construction business. She enjoyed curling, gardening, and games with her family and friends. We will miss her greatly but are looking forward to meeting again in heaven. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the Red River Valley Lodge who demonstrated such tender care towards our Mom. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of our mother may be made to the Morris Emmanuel Baptist Church specifying the Hoffman Trust Fund for Lake Nutimik Baptist Camp. To send a child to camp would be her wish. The service to celebrate Mom's life will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Morris on Thursday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing at the church prior to the service. An exceptionally wonderful, caring woman, is now at home with her Lord. I always appreciated Mrs. Hoffman's welcoming smile and gentle hello, whenever I came over to visit Roland or when I saw her in public, somewhere in downtown Morris. I have two very special memories of Mrs. Hoffman, 1) I will never forget when Mrs. Hoffman came to our house the day after my dad died and brought a steaming hot casserole for our family. What an amazing act of kindness. She knew the tough time we were going through, and knew what we needed without us asking. 2) How strongly (and I believe prayerfully) she encouraged me to live for Jesus. Well 25+ years later, I'm still heeding her advice. I follow Him daily. To Roland, Dale and the rest of the Hoffman family, your Mother had a huge impact on many lives, including mine, through her gentle nature and special kindness. May the same Jesus she encouraged me to follow, fill you with His comfort during this time of loss. - Posted by: Jeff Enns (Friend of family) on: Jan 30, 2013

I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Hoffman's passing. She was the sweetest lady I had the good fortune to have met. I spent some time at Nutimick lake with her when she visited her son Roland and my sister Noella. I was amazed at her zest for life, her incredible positive attitude, and how she smiled even when she endured pain. In her quiet gentle way, she touched my life. My deepest condolences to her family.
