MARIA (MARION) WILSON BISSETT (nee MCFETRIDGE) Peacefully on January 31, 2013 in her 99th year, the Lord answered her prayers and called Maria home. Born in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland on January 30, 1915 she came to Canada with her family at a young age settling in Grande Pointe, MB. She is predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth, brothers Thomas and David, brother-in-law Robert (McCall) and Doug (Burn), sisters-in-law Williamina, May, Mabel and Sylvia and her beloved husband Brenton. She is survived by her brother Bert, sisters Sarah (McCall) and Ellen (Burn) as well as Brenton's son Wayne (wife Brenda) and Brenton's cousin Katha (husband Hugh). Known to her family as Ria, she was also blessed to have many nieces and nephews David, Tom, Jim, Bill (McFetridge), Bill, Tom, David (Burn), Maureen, Diane, Patricia, Sharen, Brenda, Doreen, Karen and their families. Ria worked at Eaton's for many years before joining Dr. Goldberg at his dental practice. Marrying later in life many happy, loving years were spent in White Rock, BC. After Brenton's passing in 2004 she made the difficult decision to move back to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. She never did care for the Winnipeg winters, but was so thankful for all the care provided by her family. She always said her nieces in Winnipeg Sharen (John Robertson), Brenda (Gary Colyer) and Doreen (Dan Coutts) were like daughters. She had many lifelong friends, loved to travel, and having spent so many years at Eaton's loved to shop! The family wishes to thank her care givers at the Wellington, Rosewood and especially at River Park Gardens for making her final years so comfortable. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at a later date in White Rock, B.C.
