Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN MARIE CAREFOOT (nee COOK) April 30, 1928 - February 3, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother at the Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie. She will be deeply missed by her son Brad (Chris) and their sons Tyler (Colette) with daughters Emyrsen and Cameron, Clayton (Danielle) with daughter Charleigh and son Felix, and Mitch (Chelsea McCrimmon); daughter Val (Jim) Esau and their daughters Ainsley (Mark) Reimer and sons Shane and Jace and daughter Bryn, Brittany (Duncan) Bathurst, and Tasha; and son Troy (Heidi). She was predeceased by her husband Dempsey and her son Cam. Marie was born and raised in Virden, and after marrying the love of her life, settled in Elm Creek where they raised their family. Marie will be remembered for her love of life and the laughter that always surrounded her. She loved people and with her sense of humour she was the flagship of the famous definition of a stranger; which is "just a friend that I haven't met yet". The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the Douglas Campbell Lodge who also came to know Mom for her kind nature, and the way she brought sunshine into any room. Funeral services will be held in the Elm Creek Mennonite Brethren Church on Thursday February 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elm Creek Fire Fighters, Box 99, Elm Creek, MB R0G 0N0. Our sympathy to you my extended family. Helen's father was my uncle. Uncle Bob and my dad, George were brothers. Helen and I were cousins. I too grew up in Virden. So sorry for your loss.
