Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHELMA FLORENCE LAND (nee SERSON) Peacefully, on February 11, 2013 our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Thelma Land passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, parents, sisters Elsie and Pearl and brothers George and Jackie. She is survived by her son Allan; grandchildren Duane, Dana Nicole (Chris) and Amanda Reenay (Charles); brothers, Cleve (Francis), Eric (Lillian) and Winston (Shirley); sister Norma; sister-in-law Dorothy and nieces and nephews. Thelma moved to the Selkirk area where she farmed with Robert and raised her son Allan. She also worked for the Selkirk Mental Health Centre for many years. She enjoyed square dancing and quilting and was a proud and happy gardener and exceptional needlecrafter. After retirement, Thelma volunteered at the Gordon Howard Center and made many friends while working in the office. She was also a member of the Harmonic Cats which she enjoyed very much. Thelma was very proud to participate in the Festival of Trees. Every ornament was made with love and care. At her home, her Christmas tree told a life's story. She hung each homemade ornament with care and thoughtfulness. Her tree displayed memories of her family life over many years. Thelma was a member of St. Matthew's, St. Andrew's ACW and served many positions and devoted many hours to helping the church. Thelma had a terrific sense of humour. She was great company, a kind loving friend and a devoted mother. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Christ Anglican Church. Interment will follow in the St. Matthew's Anglican Churchyard Cemetery. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

I'll always have very fond memories of Thelma. She used to babysit my brother Ian and myself, and we loved being there. Her and Robbie had a bunch of turkeys that would chase us and scare the heck out of us. She always came to our rescue, and plied us with treats. She also let me play with her ornaments, and she always said how careful I was with them. I loved her laugh, it would make you just crack up as well! Thelma and Robbie were good friends of my parents, and with her passing, a big chapter of our past is closed. I'll never forget her, and I pray God will keep her close and reunite her with Robbie. Rest well, dear Thelma. - Posted by: Donna Cherniak (nee Linklater) (friend) on: Feb 15, 2013

Grandma Land was a wonderful person, a great grandmother. I know that she will be missed by all. My only regret is that I never got to travel to let her meet her Great-grandchildren I know that she is watching over them and protecting them. I wish I could express to her one more time how much she truly meant to me and how deeply I truly love her. I know we will meet again in Heaven, I love Grandma Land. Love always your granddaughter Nicole - Posted by: Dana Nicole Bell (Granddaughter) on: Feb 14, 2013
