GERARDO LISANTI With heavy hearts we are sad to announce the sudden passing of Gerardo Lisanti, on Friday, February 15, 2013, at the age of 84 years. Gerardo will be missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Maria; his children Giuseppina (Salvatore), Francesco (Louise), Antonietta (Martino), Michele, and Dina (Ted); his grandchildren Tonja, Antonio (Vanessa), Daniella, Martina, Alyssa, Michele, Nicholas, Tiana, Giordana, Teo, Victoria, Grace and Eliana; and great-grandchildren Natalia, Isabella and Massimiliano. Gerardo will also be remembered by his brother Felice (Rosaria) and his sister Teresa (Gerardo); his sisters-in-law Rosa, Giuseppina (Carmine) and Grazia (Luciano); and numerous relatives in Italy, Argentina and Canada. Gerardo was predeceased by his parents Gerardo and Giuseppina and his brothers Giuseppe and Francesco. Gerardo was born April 21, 1928 in Muro Lucano, Italy. He married Maria on October 31, 1953. They immigrated to Canada in 1960 along with their three children, welcoming two more after settling in Winnipeg. Despite all the challenges and hardships that he faced, Gerardo never complained. He enjoyed the simple things in life; walking, gardening, making homemade wine, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and reminiscing about Muro Lucano. He loved being with people and enjoyed everyone's company. One of his greatest joys was storytelling and making people laugh. With his quick wit he would find a story to fit every situation. Above everything, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Sunday lunches will never be the same without him. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre in Unit GH6 and the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital on the 5th floor, Unit 3. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. Pallbearers are Tonja, Antonio, Daniella, Martina, Alyssa, Michele and Nicholas. Due to the season of Lent, flowers will not be accepted in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
