Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCIEN FREDETTE 1921 - 2013 Peacefully, surrounded by music and love, Lucien passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Actionmarguerite (Centre Taché). Joseph Albert Lucien Fredette was born in Carey, MB, near St-Pierre-Jolys in 1921. Eldest of 10 children (Bertha, Denise, Cécile, Paul, Louise, Jos, Annette, Victor and Ida), he helped raise his brothers and sisters through the difficult years of the Depression. In 1942, he, along with 11 buddies, volunteered to fight with the Allies overseas in the Second World War. Back home, he self-educated as an electrical and mechanical engineer and applied his skills during a 30 year career as Engineer for Ray-O-Vac. He married Alice Prince in 1952, and passed down his love of music to his six children Marc (Patti), Lise (Steve), Gisèle, Suzanne, Simone (Dominic) and Patrick (Chantal), eight grandchildren Chelsea, Joshua, Sheena, Ashley, Stephen, Danic, Alyena and Zacchary and three great-grandchildren Abby, Kylie and Marklyn. He remarried to Marguerite Smith (née Gabrielle) in 1990, and resided with her in Saint-Boniface. He is preceeded by and survived by many friends and family who knew him as a humble role model of faith, love, integrity, resourcefulness, creativity and loyalty. Our most sincere gratitude to the staff at Actionmarguerite who treated Lucien with dignity and respect. In keeping with Lucien's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial mass celebrating his life will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with memorial tribute and eulogy beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Saint-Boniface Cathedral, 190 Cathedral Avenue. To all of Lucien's dear ones: I remember him going golfing because that is a memory I have of my dad too!! He was a super nice guy, to all the kids on Cabana Place. A friendly Giant kind of guy. I'm glad I got to talk to him a couple of years ago at Patrick's place, great memories! I now love golf and will dedicate my new acquired skills to Lou. Love you guys. We send our love and respects to all of you at this sad time of loss. He has left such a wonderful legacy for all his family and he will be so missed..
