Left to cherish Karen's memory are her best friend Lynn Huzyk, her sisters Linda Teskey (Frank), Norine Kubas (Carl), Debra Sexton, her nieces and nephew, Melanie (Ian), Michael (Lynda), Kirsten (Steven), and her great-nephew Carter. Karen was predeceased by her parents Allan and Joyce Hobson. The family would like to extend their utmost appreciation to Dr. Nadine Fontigny and the numerous doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery Crematorium, 1800 Day Street. I was very saddened to learn of Karen's passing very recently while attending a function--needless to say I was very surprised and saddened to learn of this as I had come to know Karen better particularly during a trying time in my life. She was there for me and I just wish I could have been more there for her had I known she was ill. She was a sincere human being--I will miss seeing her smile whenever I greeted her. I was heart broken to have read Karen had passed. She was a good person, fun, lovable, supportive and made a difference in my life. And I'm sure many others. Always a Happy person with a big smile and a laugh. My Grandkids always mention the time they had in Carberry with her at the home made water slide that Uncle Eddy made for them. It was a very good day. There was always a warm welcome at her home and always some sort of treats she had made for when Company arrived.
