CORNELIS VANDERHART On Saturday, March 17, 2013, at the age of 65, Cornelis Vanderhart passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital. Cor was predeceased by his father Barteld; mother Janna, and sister Engelina. He is survived by brothers Herman (Carol), Bert (Connie) and Archie (Anne); nieces and nephews Robin (Jason), Jason (Evelyn), Tessa and Jesse; and all his relations in the Hawes family. He had special relationships with many of his extended nieces and nephews, as there wasn't an animal or a kid "Uncle Cor" didn't love. Cor was a man of simple tastes with a great love of the outdoors and nature. He was always willing to lend a hand, and would often drop whatever he was doing to help a friend. Cor fought valiantly for many years against cancer, right up to the end. Cancer may have claimed him, but it never broke his spirit. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care Cor received from the doctors and nurses in chemo, the staff in the medical ward, Dr. Wong, and CancerCare, and his homecare nurses. Special thanks are also in order for the friends who always popped in to see if Cor needed anything, especially Penny and Evan, Carol and Dale, and Howard. In keeping with his wishes, no formal service is planned, and cremation has taken place. A celebration of Cor's life will be held at the creek on a beautiful sunny spring day with family and friends, at a date to be announced; also, at which time, a private family interment will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. We're sure that his bud Curty is waiting for Cor with a couple of cold ones and the outboard running, ready to catch the big one that always seemed to elude them.
