FRANCESCA FOLISI February 15, 1923 - March 16, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Francesca Folisi at the age of 90, on Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Vincenza (Carmelo), sister Giovanna, and brothers Giuseppe and Gaetano. She is survived by her loving nieces Franca Lionetti (Franco), Rita Dellospedale and great- nieces Maddy Calheiros (Helder), and Lore Lionetti (Saro). She will be greatly missed by numerous relatives and friends in Winnipeg and Italy. Francesca was a devoted and hardworking woman that was born in Calascibetta, Italy. She worked in Switzerland for a few years before she immigrated to Winnipeg as a seamstress. Upon her arrival to Winnipeg, Francesca worked in the garment industry. After working in the garment industry, Francesca undertook her most pleasurable life experience of devoting herself to take care of and to raise her nieces. Through this experience, she shared many stories, shared laughter, joy, and most of all instilled great values of culture, honesty, integrity and pride. She was witty, vivacious, and had modern spunk. Francesca's most recent joy and laughter was brought upon her fond experiences with her great-great-nephews Andreas and Salvatore. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at 10:00 at the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 with Father Sam Argenziano. Entombment to follow at Waverly Memorial Gardens and Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverly St. Pallbearers will be Helder Calheiros, Saro Ciresi, Carmelo Alongi, Domenico Scarpino, Michele Latrofa, and Alfonso Anania. We would like to thank the nurses and doctors on Floor 5E and the staff at the Intensive Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital for all their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Serino Home, care of Dasch Foundation , 117 Victor Lewis Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3P 1J6.
