Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLAUDIA OLIVE BRISCO After waiting to hug and say goodbye to Roberta, Claudia passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at age 93. She was predeceased by her parents Rowland and Gladys, and brothers Kelly and Dalton. She will be sadly missed by daughter Roberta (Gill), grandson Gil (Megan), two granddaughters Laura and Kara (Andy), brother Ernie, sisters-in-law Molly and Jean, as well as many other family and friends. Born in Chapple, Rainy River District, ON on January 30, 1920, she attended school in St. James (Bannatyne School) before moving with her family to Glencairn, MB. The family lived on the farm until 1964 when they returned to St. James, where she lived until moving into Tuxedo Villa four years ago. She greatly enjoyed a trip to England in the early 1970s where she met many family members for the first time. She recalled the trip fondly for the rest of her days, and could often be heard telling of her adventures. Her pastimes included embroidery, sewing, quilting, baking, canning, tending to house plants and gardening, feeding the birds and caring for her many cats. Her work included long-term babysitting for many Winnipeg families. She spent years tending and caring for both her parents. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Claudia's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society: www.winnipeghumanesociety.ca or a charity of your choice. Remember your mom fondly Roberta, especially her houseplants and cats and her mom and your gramma's car. We here Gil Barbour on CKUA radio when we travel back and forth to BC and I always wonder if the singing Gil is your son. I will always remember what a wonderful lady she was! She babysat my sister and brother and I for many years. I will always remember waking up in the morning and seeing this lady having her coffee and having our breakfast on the table, just waiting for us to wake up. What great memories. - Posted by: Susan Robson (One of the children she baby sat!) on: Mar 27, 2013
