Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION JEAN WALKER It is with a deep and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our much beloved and cherished Aunt Jean, who left us for heaven on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2013. Known and loved by all that she touched, so gracefully as "Auntie Jean". Auntie Jean was born in Winnipeg, MB, on July 20, 1929, and resided there her entire life. In her early years the family moved around several locations in the Fort Rouge area. As the family struggled with hard times in what was known as "The Dirty Thirties", Auntie Jean attended Somerset School. At the age of 12 Auntie Jean suffered a debilitating stroke that the family was told would cause them an incredible hardship, and severely shorten her life expectancy. However, through love, caring and support of family and friends, she persevered. Auntie Jean overcame the odds and fooled them all. She went on to live a most exemplary life for another 71 years. During the Second World War the family came under more hardship. Her father, Henry Walker, was called off to war. Her mother, Eleanor Walker, was left to seek employment to support the family. It was here that Auntie Jean stepped to the family forefront, raising her younger sister Dolores and taking over the household duties. This was the beginning of a like long calling of raising, caring for and offering unconditional love to all family members and even friends and neighborhood children. Over the years Auntie Jean gave freely her time, volunteering at Shaughnessy Park School helping to care for the children in the pre-school programs. I was also here that in her late 60's she began taking Adult Education reading classes. Through her 70's and into her 80's Auntie Jean was still involved in the senior's program at Nor'West Health as well as attending the women's group and dinners at Immanuel Pentecostal church. Auntie Jean was predeceased by her father Henry Charles Walker (1972); her mother Eleanor Jane Walker (nee Peckover) (1985); and her sister Delores (1990). The best way to show love, honour and cherish the memory of Auntie Jean would have to be what she would do for so many over the years: Look around you for someone in need of friendship. Smile and then give a hug. Extend a kindness. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
