KENNETH KARL PRYCHUN
Date of Passing: Apr 06, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH KARL PRYCHUN On April 6, 2013 Ken passed away peacefully, surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved. Besides his ever so loving wife, Diane, of 35 years, Dad also leaves to mourn his sons: Matthew (Amber), Kevin (Karla); nephew Ricky; niece Ronda; sons: Bradley (Rilee), Patrick (Dara), and Kenny Jr. (Carla); many precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Sharon (Tom) Wilsher; several nieces and nephews; in-laws Eleanor (Garry) Bediuk; numerous family and friends; and his most trusted lifelong friend, Fred Haberman. He was predeceased by his brother Rick. Ken was born on April 6, 1943 to the late Walter and Marie Prychun, in Tyndall, MB. In 1948, the family moved to Breezy Point Road, where they started the family farm that Ken continued to operate until his passing. Ken attended Peguis School, Selkirk Collegiate and furthered his education as a journeyman millwright in The Pas. He started his millwright career at MRM, continued on to ABM/Lakeshore, CN rail for 30 years, Ancast, and retired at Amsco, all the while still operating the family farm, which was his true passion. Ken loved going to football games, playing cards, watching curling, traveling anywhere especially with the band or dance group, going out for coffee to various coffee spots, spending time with family and friends and taking pictures to capture those special family moments. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who asked for help, he was always on the go. Dad was a meticulous man whether it was the yard, the kitchen sink, his hair, the gardens, farm equipment, or even the windows - he wanted everything to be perfect. We all know Dad loved all kinds of music. You could always find him with the music turned up in the front room singing and dancing with his dog George. Prayers will be sung 7:30 p.m., Wednesday April 10 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mary the Protectress, 820 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg. Funeral service will follow 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 11 also at the Cathedral. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery in Tyndall, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Box 297, Tyndall, MB R0E 2B0 where Dad was a proud member, as this was the last Orthodox Church his grandfather built. Ken was part of this community when Don, I and Michael moved here. Laury and Rick were born in this community and grew up with Ken Jr., Patrick and Kevin. We had neighbouring farms and carved out many memories. One year ago, ironically on the exact same day in the morning, Don passed away. I will miss seeing Ken working in the yard, sometimes we would chat a bit, sometimes just wave; it seems to me the final chapter in an era has closed. My thoughts are with the family as you mourn your loss. - Posted by: Joyce Ward (Neighbour and friend) on: Apr 08, 2013
