  • Picture if you will a steaming hot July afternoon at Grand Beach with thousands of bikini clad sunbathers; when down the boardwalk march the Blues Brothers, aka Dennis and Bongo, dressed complete in black suit and tie, fedoras, dark shades, standing head and shoulders above the crowd and handcuffed to a briefcase. Why? To put a smile on everyone's face. I will never forget this and many other happy memories of Dennis. My sincere condolences. - Posted by: Ron Kramble (friend of the family) on: Apr 08, 2013

He knew he had big shoes to fill and you know what, he did a rermarkable job. Dennis - "Okay, i want you guys to run the whatchamacallit" Offense - "huh" Dennis - "you know, that thing-a-ma-jing" Offense - "gotcha" RIP - Posted by: Wade Gelineau (former player) on: Apr 08, 2013

  • One of my oldest memories of Dennis, is sitting in a livingroom on Pandora taking equipment inventory and drinking coconut rum with Barry Domino. Few people realize how important Dennis and Barry were to the survival of the Nationals in the late 70's early 80's. They were just as instrumental as Bill Omiuk and Sonny Anderson and Bob Fowle and myself, when we approached the Optomists to build the Nats Facility. They owe a debt to people like Dennis and Barry for all their dedication over the years. Farewell my friend you will be missed. - Posted by: Ron Collins (friend) on: Apr 08, 2013

  • I was very shocked to hear of Dennis's passing, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I had the honor and privilege to be coached football by Dennis. He loved football!! Dennis was the type of guy to be first one at the club and last to leave, he just loved being around the guys and involved with the game. I'll never forget that smirk and twinkle in his eye when he was cooking up a play to try to fool our defence during practices. He'll be truly missed. Whatcha call on 2!! - Posted by: George Ritchot (Friend) on: Apr 08, 2013

  • Please accept my sincerest condolences on Dennis' passing. I often reminisce of life in Transcona during the latter fifties and sixties and invariably a smile comes to my face. Memories begin to explode and many funny stories appear of Dennis in hilarious situations, whether they be at Westview Elementary School, Central School, or the Pirates Community Club, laughter takes over my body. Probably, the most famous episodes of fun were our days at Central School as grade seven students. The non-malicious mischief that our "gang" contrived led us to spend time away from the regular class isolated in the famous cloak room, the den at the end of the hallway or a simple time out in the hallway. Dennis was truly a kind hearted giant. Although Dennis was the tallest and strongest student in our class, he did not have a mean demeanor. He was easy going, thoughtful and kind. To demonstrate his kindness: the last time I saw Dennis, I was at my parent's home on Pandora, and he was bicycling home from his work. He stopped to talk and during our conversation he noticed that I was working on an outside tap. He offered to stop by the following day to help me replace it. I know Dennis spent endless time in the development of the football program in Transcona. In doing so, touched many lives in a positive manner. Irene, there is no doubt, that Dennis has left a wonderful legacy for you, your children and indeed his entire family. In Thought and Prayer, Frankie De Marchi - Posted by: frankie de marchi (friend) on: Apr 08, 2013
