ORPHA KATHLEEN SEYMOUR (nee SANDLAN) March 10, 1931 - April 12, 2013 Sadly with her family by her side, Orpha passed away on April 12, 2013 at the age of 82. Orpha was predeceased by her husband William Seymour; mother Julia; father Knute; sisters Ada Sandlan and Ila Pearce, and brother Ernest Sandlan. Left to cherish her memory are son Guy (Tracy); daughter Brenda (Louis McLeod); sister Elvira; grandchildren Shawn, Barrett, Brandi, and Jodi (Troy); seven great-grandchildren Takeiyah, Kaleb, Nicholas, Taylor, Jade, Chase and Amber, as well as numerous other loved ones. Orpha was born on March 10, 1931 in Vita, MB. She grew up on the family farm in Piney, MB with her three sisters and one brother. Orpha met William and they married in June 1953. They lived in Innisfail, AB and they raised two beautiful children, Guy and Brenda. Grandpa (Bill) worked on the pipeline and Granny (Orpha) travelled all across Canada with him. Granny loved to spend time baking and cooking for her special holiday meals. Her butter tarts, cinnamon buns, homemade bread and donuts were to die for. She loved to spend her time playing crib, making puzzles, playing bingo and travelling. You would often hear "Uff Da" on many occasions and would wonder if it was good or bad. She loved to spend her time playing crib, making puzzles, playing bingo and travelling. Her favourite thing to do was spending time with her family. Orpha moved to Selkirk from Innisfail, AB in 2011 to be closer to Brenda, Louis and family. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Betel Nursing Home and Woodlands Courts for all the loving care and support that was given to Granny. As per Orpha's wishes cremation has taken place and a small funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Diabetes Association. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I wish to express my condolences to the Seymour family. I lived next door to Bill's parents in Swan River, and met Orpha years ago when Bill and Orpha visited his parents, along with their two young children. - Posted by: Ruth Graff (Burtniak) (acquaintence) on: Apr 17, 2013
