GWEN C. LEIGH
Born: Feb 04, 1935
Date of Passing: Apr 11, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGWEN C. LEIGH After a hard fought battle, with family by her side, Mom, Grama, Great-Grama, Sister, Aunt and Friend gave up her fight on Wednesday, April 11, 2013 at the age of 78. Mom will be sadly missed and her memory treasured. Mom was born in Viscount, SK February 4, 1935 to Murney and Kate Crawford. She was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws, her husband Bill, and sister-in law Clara. Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Judy (Larry) Seel, Nancy Leigh, Bob (Robyn) Leigh, her grandchildren, Averill (Brennan), Lisa (Mike), Colin (Vanessa), Brenley (Neil), Sondra (Jeff), Geoff (Kandra), Dylan, Chad (Shiva) and step-grandson Nico. Her great-grandsons, Valen, Bryce, Griffin, Jordy, Kai and Keenan, her sister Coral (Doug), her sister-in-law Joan and brothers-in-law Ray and Doug as well as many nieces, one nephew and several friends. Mom was always proud of accomplishments made by her own children, their significant others and extended family. You always wanted to let Mom/Grama know what it was you had achieved, as she would be your spokeswoman to let the rest of the family know, as well as her friends and neighbours. We were proud of Mom as well. After raising her family she became a Real Estate Agent, which she enjoyed for many years. After losing her husband she resided in Summerland where she relished life, made new friends which she cherished and enjoyed a full social calendar. To know Mom was to know where you stood. She felt she had earned the right to let people know what her thoughts were and some of her comments will be memories that are passed on from generation to generation. Mom's grandchildren and great-grand-children each held a special place in her heart and each had a distinct and different bond with her. Her eyes would light up every time one of them would pay her a visit, bring her a coffee, take over a meal or just stop in for a quick chin wag. While the great-grandchildren are young, she still had stories to tell to everyone about the special memories they had already made with her. Mom was a special lady and all her family would do whatever and be there whenever they could just to spend time with her. A special thanks to all of the medical profession who helped Mom through this two year struggle with her health. From the surgeon's, doctors, nurses and health care aids at both the St. Boniface and Victoria Hospitals, her family physician for over 20 years Dr. Brian Sharkey and last but not least the medical staff on 4E at Deer Lodge Centre. We thank you all for everything you did. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Mom. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date as per Mom's wishes. Those that leave we never lose For always they will be, Forever dear, forever near, In thought and memory THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

It can’t possibly be 5 years since you left us? But the reality is that it is 5 years. I remember the day like it was yesterday, I can still see the look on my niece's face when she walked down the hall and I told her that we didn’t make it. Our lives changed in an instant. Take comfort in knowing that you're missed by everyone, still talked about in conversation with family and remembered everyday! love from Your son Bob - Posted by: Bob Leigh (Son ) on: Apr 02, 2018

Time certainly has a way of whizzing by all of us as we get wrapped up in our daily lives. It's so hard to imagine that these years have disappeared. I'm sure I can speak for my entire family that our Mom & Grandma is truly missed and she is thought of everyday. We all Miss you so very very much.... - Posted by: Bob (Son) on: Apr 17, 2017

It's hard to believe that a year has flown by since our mom has passed. For myself and my family it was a year of many first's without her in our lives. We miss the warmth, the conversation, the laughter and the truth. I often find myself driving to visit her only to realize that she is no longer there, and I'm thankful for the many ways that she lets us know that she is still with everyone of us. She is missed everyday and not a day goes bye where she is not remembered. Love you........ - Posted by: Bob (Son) on: May 03, 2014

We will always remember Gwen with a smile on our face and a tear in our eye, she told it like it was and we both appreciate that. We have many fond memories of both Gwen and Bill and can not wait to share. Gwen was a good friend and sister-in- law. She loved her family with all her heart. Judy and Family; I was so sad to hear that your mom passed away, I so enjoyed doing her hair but most of all her company, although I only knew her for a very short time, I really, really, liked her, she was a super lady, definetly a favorite of mine. I will miss her coming every week, Wednesday's at 1pm will not be the same. Sandra - Posted by: Sandra Magnusson (Hairdresser) on: Apr 20, 2013
