Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • My many wonderful memories of my Aunt Edythe includes bus trips on the Beaver Bus for sleep overs on Eveline St. and waking up to sugar pops and eggs being fried in butter. A large box Aunt Edythe made into a "television" with thread spools as dials. We spent hours going into the box and pretending we were performers on t.v. Christmas Eves with "reel to reel" movies, visit from Santa and racing home before Santa got to our house. (I have spent several decades trying to hunt down a similar Christmas ornament to the "apple core" which hung on the tree) I visited Aunt Edythe in recent years as she lived in the same nursing home as my mother-in law. I loved our little visits with her happy disposition and the fact that she seemed delighted to see me. Our love and sympathy goes out to all her family. • So sorry to hear of Aunt Edythe's death. She was always a kind, generous and caring Aunt to me. I looked forward to staying at Uncle Walters and Aunt Edythe's welcoming home in Selkirk. They would often take Oliver, and my sister Carol and I out to Patricia Beach in the summer where we'd spend a happy day enjoying the beach and the water. I was grateful to have a number of visits with her in the past two years at the Betel Home, and have opportunity to thank her for all Her childhood kindnesses to me. Our love to Edythe and Gord, Irene, Oliver and Gail and all of the family. love Jan - Posted by: Janet and Terry Thomas (Niece) on: Apr 29, 2013

  • Hello to Edith & Gordie, we were sorry to read of your mom's passing. She was such a fine lady and you will miss her I am sure. Sorry also to see when the Free Press had the wrong picture. Oh well, it will give you a laugh in a few years. We are currently at Toms in Grande Prairie Alberta grand parenting while he and his wife are on a holiday. Take care, it is never easy to lose your mom, no matter the age. - Posted by: Lorraine & Rick West (friends of the family) on: Apr 20, 2013

  • My deepest sympathy to Edythe's family. My dad John died last May at the age of 95. I still have my Honoured Queen doll that is 50 years old and still cherish it. My best to you. - Posted by: Darryl Gill (Nordal) (Distant cousin) on: Apr 20, 2013
