I'am very saddened to hear of Brenda's passing. I remembered times where she would dispatch Monday mornings and I would go to work and she would tell me about her shift. I remember one day I asked her to drive me somewhere, I told her I was late and to hurry. Now I know where she got her nickname "NASCAR" from, I mean I'm a psycho driver myself but she made my heart race and I had to wear my seatbelt! She would comment about my YouTube taxi driver videos. Miss you Brenda, Journey well my friend! - Posted by: Ken Ho (Former co-worker,taxi driver) on: May 05, 2013

Brenda was my next door neighbor in Inwood and best friend. We were the same age and in the same grade. It was Brenda's ritual to sling her arm around mine as we walked to school together on the odd day...and walked home from school everyday. After school and when chores were done we met 'at the fence' (an old barbed-wire fence that separated our property from hers). And when we weren't supposed to meet there, we'd secretly meet at the back of our properties at that fence. My dad had a bunch of plywood and such there and I remember Brenda and I standing and wriggling our bodies on that unsturdy wood as we strummed our air guitars with great gusto! Students and I attended her birthday parties which always outshone the others! She soon left Inwood and attended Teulon school and then Brandon. Of course we fell out of touch with each other but years later we connected again. Those few years had transformed her into a very pretty lady...a real beauty. We had driven back to Inwood one day, back to our old school, to see what, if anything had changed and I couldn't help but notice the energy and enthusiasm in her. It was quite nice to see that she hadn't forgotten where she came from and who she was...and that was one trait that she kept with her all her life...she knew who she was and what she was capable of...which is of course admirable and something I still strive for. I've always kept our friendship close to my heart, in childhood as well as adulthood. You are free from all the hurts in this world...rest now in peace Brenda. Until we meet again... - Posted by: Kim Futch ( childhood and adult friend) on: Apr 25, 2013

I was supposed to get together with Brenda before the social.... but we never made it. I didn't know her very well at all, but I could tell by her demeanor, the way she spoke of things, her sense of humour, her love for her family and the great outdoors that she was an amazing and adventurous person... I am saddened by her loss.... I would like to offer my deepest condolences to family. - Posted by: Carla Greenberg (acquaintance) on: Apr 23, 2013

Brenda was a woman of many different facets. Beneath her bold tough exterior portrayal, she was extremely sensitive, kind and emotional. I have known Brenda all her life, she was my next door neighbor. Growing up she was known as "little Brenda", me as "big Brenda". I have many lasting memories sharing a very close friendship, one I will always treasure. From the crazy driving around town in her old white, stick-shift chevette, cruising the streets to racing it on the Red in the winter. Holy hell ,you just hung on, literally!! She was also quite a bussiness woman, one with an imagination and an eye for detail. I spent many a night sitting up with her making wedding tops. She sure knew what she was doing and she knew how to make a good dollar doing it. She had Pizzaz and Personality.. At the Convention Centre at the Wedding Shows, she'd display her stuff, compete amongst the best and still leave on top. A few years ago she took me to this old Museum in Chatfield. What a day, the place was awesome, first we checked out a few cemeteries and stopped by the old quarry in Inwood, a place we'd often visit for stones for our rock gardens. Leaving, we could see a funnel cloud towards Gimli whirling around not far from my cabin. Worried for the safety of her girls and my son alone at the lake, we flew down those old washboard gravel roads hoping we'd get there safely and that they'd be safe. The funnel cloud did touch down by Arborg. But the most treasured times were spent on weekends at the lake, sunbathing, drinking marguaritas, barbequing, laughing, listening to music and just relaxing. Her friendship will be everlasting. I will miss her smile, laugh and sense of humor. Brenda, May you Rest in Peace. Brenda was a strong woman, and was not afraid of anything. Many times she would tell me stories of some fares she would pick up in her cab, and I would say are you nuts. She would tell me I have a bat under my seat, it's all good. Rest now my friend. - Posted by: Brenda Kennedy (Fellow taxidriver friend) on: Apr 23, 2013
