  • I was very saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and colleague. My sincere condolences to Marvin's family and friends. Over the past 20 years or so, we have worked on a number of projects together. He was a dedicated planner who always put the interests of his clients first and foremost. • I am very sorry to hear of Marvin's passing. He was a good friend who always took the time to share personal comments with me about life and his family. He was also interested in what was happening in my life. We worked on a number of land use projects together and I hope his contribution will help the communities in which those projects were done. With sympathy I will remember Marvin as a friend. - Posted by: Terry Pearce (Friend and Work Colleague) on: Apr 28, 2013

  • It is with great sadness to hear of our dear friends passing. We shared many laughs and great times together, in fact he married my best friend, marilyn. His innocence as a young person, made him vulnerable to have jokes played on him. Laughter was second nature for marvin. we remember him with great fondness, and reflect on such fun times together, we shared everything together from volkswagons to university, to changing diapers on babies!! - Posted by: Gloria and Norm Peitsch (Long time friend church and university days.) on: Apr 27, 2013

  • Good memories of summers at Arborg - exploring, playing, and 'working' with Marvin, Joyce and Lenore - me and my sisters: Adelaide and Loreen and the Johnsons and Vigfussons. Memories last! Condolences to all who will miss Marvin. - Posted by: garry oddleifson (childhood friend and playmate) on: Apr 26, 2013

  • Marv was always a friendly face in the provincial bldg. My condolences to his family and especially Joyce. My thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: LaVina Gillespie (Friend ) on: Apr 26, 2013

  • While I first met Marv as a work colleague, it was his friendship that I valued most. Marv was a unique individual who enjoyed the many people he met through work and social activities. Marv enjoyed verbal jousting with his work colleagues (Haggerty, Houghton, Shier, Carroll, etc.) over land use planning issues or who bought the beer. He enjoyed the odd game of golf because the activity allowed for personal interaction. Marv was clearly a family man who enjoyed all of his children and grandchildren as much as his wife Marilyn. I was looking forward to our next work meeting to catch up on his world and because I owe him a lunch. I will miss my good friend, gone too soon. - Posted by: Terry Brown (friend) on: Apr 26, 2013

  • It was with great sadness I learned this past week of the passing of Marvin. During the past decade, I've had the pleasure of working with Marvin on several planning projects in Western Manitoba. While it's true it was work that introduced us to one another, I am proud to count Marvin as a dear friend and professional colleague. Whether on the phone or in person, one constant with Marvin was his ever present positive outlook and genuine love of sharing with others what was going on in his life as well as learning about what was going on in the lives of people he cared about. My sincere condolences to Marvin's entire family. - Posted by: Peter Andersen (Professional planning colleague) on: Apr 26, 2013

  • The Urban & Regional Planning Community of Manitoba will certainly miss Marvin's expertise and wit. It was always a pleasure to spend time with Marvin whether it be for business or pleasure. Anyone who met him would quickly realize that he was exceptionally friendly and accepting. I never did get to take him up on his offer for a steak dinner at his place, which he made the first time I met him. However, I was fortunate enough to spend many evenings and afternoons with him over the past 7 years. I wish his family, whom he often spoke proudly of, my most sincere condolences. I have many fond memories of Marvin, which will live on. - Posted by: James Platt (Friend and Colleague) on: Apr 26, 2013
