Condolences & Memories (23 entries)

  • I first met Danny in 1974 on the practice field at Norberry Community Centre. That's where I began coaching six-man football. At 12 years old, Danny was a very unlikely looking running back. A little heavy set compared to the other boys, and not at all athletic looking, but you underestimated him at your own peril. He could run like the wind and if he couldn't get around you, he'd go over you. However, he never played the game with a mean spirit nor can I recall a time when he lost his temper or acted selfishly. I coached Danny again in 1975, but by 1976 he would exceed the league weight limit and not be allowed to play as a 14 year-old. The last time I saw Danny was in the Fall of 1975. Over the years I'd often think of him and wonder how he made out. I am so pleased to learn from the sentiments expressed here, that he maintained all of the fine character traits he displayed as a young football player oh so many years ago. May he forever rest in peace. - Posted by: Conrad MacMillan (Football coach) on: May 27, 2023
