Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEWSTACHIJ (STANLEY) STEFANYSZYN It is with deep sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of our father and grandfather (Gigi), on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Stanley was born on November 3, 1921 to Anna and Ihnatij Stefanyszyn in the village of Ozyriany, Western Ukraine. After the war, Stanley immigrated to Canada via England in 1952, first arriving in Ottawa, and then later settling in Winnipeg where he spent the balance of his life. Once in Winnipeg Dad became active in the Ukrainian community along with Mom. They were very active in the Senior's Group at Institute Prosvita. In addition, he was an active parishioner of St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church up until his illness. Stanley worked as a painter who was a perfectionist when it came to the quality of work he produced. He did this up to his retirement at the age of 62. Dad enjoyed and took pride in keeping his home and garden in immaculate condition. Dad and Mom always enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their home. Christmas was a special holiday and having the family together was very important for them. Stanley was also an avid chess player who enjoyed teaching his grandsons how to play. Stanley is survived by his stepson Henry Zbuk (Gail); grandchildren Kevin (Lenore), Randall (Diana), great-grandchildren John and Joshua; sister-in-law Anna Kostecky, niece Irene Waplak (Bohdan), grand niece Ivanka, along with numerous family members in Ukraine. He was predeceased by his wife, Stefania in December 2012. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue, with a Redemptorist Father officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Stanley's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Special thanks to the staff at the Holy Family Home, 3rd and 5th floors for their care and kindness. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193
