Terry is survived by Fern, his loving wife of 46 years; two sons Trevor (Paula) and Chris (Danielle) and four grandsons, Josh, Mack, Andrew and Alex. Terry is also survived by his brother Al Kirton (Margo); sister-in-law Joan Moyer (Bill), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents William and Isabel Curiston; nephew Jeffrey Kirton; father and mother-in-law Findley and Mary Johnstone; brother-and sister-in-law Iver and Jean Johnstone, and their daughter Diane. Terry was born on July 27, 1941 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He and his brother were raised on the family homestead in Dunara (now Petersfield), Manitoba. They spent their childhood in Dunara beside Netley Creek before moving to Geraldton, Ontario, for a short period before finally settling in Clandeboye. They had fond memories of growing up, doing chores together on the family homestead, having many farmyard pets, skating, swimming and hunting along Netley Creek. Terry met and fell in love with Fern and they were married in 1966. They settled in Selkirk where they raised their family. Terry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, sitting around a campfire, or just visiting. Terry worked in construction and was a partner in Walterson Construction; he later worked with Manitoba Highways, retiring in 2001. Terry and Fern made many road trips to enjoy the autumn leaves, travelled to Mexico, Branson, Vancouver Island and Churchill, as well as touring the Maritimes in recent years. He enjoyed his retirement and loved spending time with his family, particularly his dear grandsons and his granddog, Jack. Memorial Service will be held in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 20, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. Private interment at St. George's Wakefield will take place prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Care, Selkirk & District General Hospital. Family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at both the Betel Home in Selkirk and the Selkirk & District General Hospital for their care and compassion for Terry. Fern, Trevor and Chris, I saw Terry as a solid, predictable and caring man. And he was a gentle and loving father to Trevor and Chris. There is no doubt in my mind that he was truly in love with his grandsons. I so enjoyed my time as a child/teenager and young adult in Terry's company. To me, Terry was always there for my family, especially for my dad. As was Fern and cousin Audrey. With regret I missed the celebration of Terry's life with family members and friends back in May, but I will always have fond memories of Terry. My love to Fern, Trevor and Chris, I trust you know that Terry was a great guy. love from Elaine, Geoff and Reed - Posted by: Elaine Tess (nee Scramstad) (Cousin to Fern) on: Jul 08, 2013

Terry was a good friend. Often helped out on our Dairy farm doing all kinds of chores. We spent many a good time with Terry before moving to BC. Terry was our "Best" Man at our wedding. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of his family. Sorry we cannot attend his service. - Posted by: Jean & Allan Leask (Friend) on: May 19, 2013
