PATRICIA POIRIER (MCLEAN) (nee WHITEHEAD) Peacefully at the Asper Cardiac ICU in St. Boniface, Patricia was called to rest on May 16, 2013 at the age of 73. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Louis-Paul, her five children and their spouses, Nancy McLean and husband Daryl Buckholz of Cochrane, AB; Jo-Anne McLean-Daley of Sackville NS; Sandra (Phil) Engel of Winnipeg, MB; Tracey (Robin) Kimpinski of Shoal Lake, MB and Kenneth (Barb) of Winnipeg MB; six grandchildren, Derek, Sean, Kyle, Sydney, Brooke and Dylan. Louis-Paul's five children and their spouses, Adrien (Marcie), Lionel (Kerry), Yvonne (Wayne), Yvette (Kelvin) and Roger (Linda), nine step-grandchildren, Marcella, Janine, James, Christopher, Paul, Michael, David, Garrett, Daniel and five stepgreat-grandchildren, Alora, Johnathan, Abigail, Olivia and Wyatt; as well as two sisters, two brothers and their families Patricia was born on June 2, 1939 in Winnipeg, where she was raised and received her education. She was married from 1957 to 1973 and gave birth to five children. She held several jobs, while she raised her five children while working as Account Manager at Dun & Bradstreet, Credit manager at Princess Auto, and credit manager at Western Welding Supplies from where she retired in 1990 and remarried. Patricia enjoyed traveling, reading and tending to her flower gardens. Her greatest joy was visiting her great-grandchildren. She rejoined the work force in 1992 to become a special needs care giver for challenged children through Child and Family Services and felt greatly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with these children. Patricia struggled with several bouts of cancer. Although the operations, radiation and chemotherapy were very painful they only slowed her and she continued her work with warm heart and a smile until her death. We will all miss her. At her request cremation and interment has already taken place. Those wishing to make a donation in her memory may do so by sending it to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB or the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Box 448, Selkirk, MB R1A 2B3 or a charity of their choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in charge of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
