Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGIOVANNA VACCARO July 8, 1934 - May 20, 2013 Giovanna Vaccaro (nee Grande) passed away suddenly on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the age of 78 years. She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Matteo Vaccaro. Giovanna had four sons, Domenic (Gayle), Angelo (Lisa), Giuseppe and Gimmi. She was very proud of her seven grandchildren, Joanna, Matthew, Anthony, Christine, Jonathon, Matteo and Giordano. Giovanna will be missed by her family and numerous friends. Giovanna was born on July 8, 1934 in Amato, Italy where she grew into a beautiful young woman. She met and married the love of her life, Matteo, on July 27, 1958. Matteo and Giovanna immigrated to Canada with their oldest son Domenic and her mother, Caterina Grande, in March of 1962 where they began a new chapter in their life. Her passions included cooking, baking, and spending time with her adoring grandchildren. She was selfless at heart, and her priority was to attend to the needs of others first. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Emergency unit staff at the Victoria Hospital, Father Frank of St Joseph's Church, and everyone who has supported us during this difficult time. Your kindness and thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Pallbearers will be Matthew Vaccaro, Anthony Vaccaro, Mario Scerbo, Giovanni Vaccaro, Vince Gabriel, and Julian Bodek. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathon, Matteo, Giordano, and Gimmi Vaccaro. In lieu of flowers, donations in Giovanna's memory may be made to her favourite charities which include the Multiple Sclerosis Society and St. Amant Centre. Vigil Prayers will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Viewing will commence one hour prior to prayers. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Father Sam Argenziano Celebrant.
