Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDANIEL ANTOINE HOORNE It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Daniel Antoine Hoorne on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the age of 80 in Winnipeg. Dan was born on July 23, 1932 in St. Alphonse, MB. He is survived by Elaine, his loving wife of 54 years; his daughters Shawna (Ian) and Daria; sisters Rita (Brian - deceased) and Christiana (Walter); sister-in-law Mary; grandchildren Devin and Raisa, and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Gerard; mother Maria, and brothers Cyril and Joseph. Dan's work took him to Saskatoon and Vancouver where he met and married Elaine. Dan and Elaine spent most of their married life raising the girls on Tache Avenue. Dan loved calm, country living in Sanford and while living in Whyte Ridge he was grateful to be surrounded by many caring neighbours. Dan enjoyed hosting guests and most of all cherished the time spent with family. Dan was always giving of his time visiting the sick and elderly. He was also an active volunteer for the Kiwanis Clubs in Winnipeg, the Knights of Columbus, Dubuc Social Club, and Fort Whyte Alive. His wit, smile and personality brightened everyone's day and he was seldom seen without his camera in his breast pocket. Please join us for a Celebration of Dan's life on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Parish located at 1707 John Brebeuf Place. Rev. Father Mark Tarrant celebrant. Dan and Elaine are 2 very special people. I worked with Elaine for a number of years and she was like a mother to me. Elaine and family you have my deepest condolences on the passing of Dan. It has been a number of years since I saw you but I am sure you will remember the building on St. Anne's when you worked for John Gee And I was upstairs. We used to have some good times. The few times I met Dan I saw his great humor and love of family. My heart goes out to you as I know just what you are going through, I lost my husband last year.
