ANNE-MARIE LEPERRE (nee CALLEWAERT) It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Anne-Marie (Callewaert) Leperre, 72 years young, of Waterhen, MB. Marie leaves to mourn her loving husband of 53 years, Antone (Tony) Leperre, her son, Bruce, her daughter, Diantha and son-in-law, Gary, sisters Yvonne Grandbois, Agnes Vandenbosch, brother Raoul Callewaert and sister-in-law Jeannine. Predeceased by her loving father and mother, Jules and Eglantine, brothers, Frederic (Simone) and Eugene, sisters, Isabelle (Florent) Vandenbosch, Geralda (Lucien) Sutherland, and Irene (Lionel) Morin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends throughout Canada and the USA. She will, also, be greatly missed by four over-indulged Grand Dogs' who were regular houseguests. Marie was born in Ste. Rose, the much younger child of eight brothers and sisters, the last one home alone with her father and mother until her father was stricken with cancer passing away when she was 16 years old. Early on, Marie worked at the Ste. Rose Bakery and, soon after, met Tony ... they were married in April of 1960 and she moved to Waterhen where he lived with his parents operating the Waterhen Tourist Camp. Marie worked at the camp throughout its existence, even on weekends after she obtained a job as Librarian at the Waterhen School. Summers were then spent at Brandon University where she obtained her teaching degree and then returned to teach many primary school children in the Waterhen School. Marie thoroughly enjoyed her teaching career as well as the customer rapport and many lifelong friendships she made while working and owning the Waterhen Tourist Camp. When she wasn't taking care of her two children, or husband, or working at the camp, or teaching, she, also, drove school bus and still always found time for her family and friends. She loved music and went to many concerts with her husband and family and if not at a concert, she was always listening to her favourite entertainers at home or in the car. She excelled at crochet and knitting and was often sought by her local friends to teach them this craft, which was generally done with a lot of laughter, chatter, and the occasional cup of coffee or cocktail. Marie was a mentor to many children who went through the Waterhen School and her home in Waterhen is a shrine to all the gifts she received from the many children whose lives she touched. Marie retired from teaching in 1999 and enjoyed many trips with her sisters and casino trips with her husband and good friends. She was one of the most easy going people you will ever meet, and was sincerely content with the conversation and laughter of friends and family over the kitchen table. Marie was immensely proud of her children and you could be sure that the house radio was on any chance she had in case her son was broadcasting, or if not at home, she enjoyed her visits to her daughter's home in Western New York where there would always be time for necessary shoe and jewelry shopping as well as a bingo game and penny slots. Travelling was always welcomed wherever her journeys led, as long as there were family and friends to share the laughter. She never expected anything and was always humbled and appreciative of her experiences. She was an inquisitive soul, reading the paper daily, completing crossword puzzles, or writing letters and, although she embraced the technology of Facebook, the Web, and texting', her personal letters were always a treat for the lucky recipients. She had a true love and zest for life and wasn't a big fan of solitude, ... company was always welcomed into the family home ... and when it was time to leave, one could be sure she would be standing in the window with a big smile and wave ... we'll forever miss that smile and wave, but rest assured it will linger forever in our hearts and remain emblazoned on our souls. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, celebrated by Fr. Leo Fernandes and Fr. Noel Boulanger, OMI. Interment followed in the Ste. Amelie Cemetery, Ste. Amelie, Manitoba.
