HAZEL DOREEN FINNSON It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Hazel Doreen Finnson on June 5, 2013 at the Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 78 years. Hazel leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Sveinn of 50 years; daughter Kathy (Scott) Hay; grandchildren Kurtis and Courtney; brother Richard (Roberta) Donald; sisters Jeanette (Blair) McKee and Audrey (the late Danny) McDonald, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Hazel was predeceased by her parents John and Catherine Donald; in-laws Willi and Gerda Finnson and brother Richmond Donald. Hazel was born in Selkirk in 1934. She spent all of her life in the Selkirk area. She spent all of her working years taking care of people in various nursing homes. She got great enjoyment working with the elderly. After retirement she volunteered with the House of Economy. She loved time spent at home, as well as going out for coffee with Sveinn and friends. Also she enjoyed numerous road trips to visit in Swan River. The things that gave Hazel her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren Kurtis and Courtney. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. The family would like to thank the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital for their care and compassion. Thank you to Dr. Demsas for the kindness he gave the family. Thank you to family and friends who dropped by to visit mom. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Deborah Vitt officiating. Interment will follow at the Little Britain United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6.
