DONALD GLOWATSKY Septmeber 10, 1936 - June 6, 2013 It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Don "Moose" Glowatsky, aged 76, from Matlock, MB. Don passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, with his wife Linda and stepdaughter Tina by his side after a courageous battle with Bone Cancer. After tremendous suffering he is now pain-free and at peace. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 20 years Linda Scowen; stepdaughter Tina (David); stepson Bob (Jenn); his granddaughters Ally and Shelby and his "fur kids" Smokey and Willow; sisters Joyce (Lawrence), Francis, and Beverley; brother Bob (Shirley) and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was born on September 10, 1936 in Brunkild, MB. He was raised on a farm, knew the meaning of hardwork and carried that trait throughout his entire life. He worked as an Industrial Mechanic for LaFarge Cement in Winnipeg for 28 years until his retirement in 1995. He didn't slow down in retirement, building a beautiful garage/wood/work shop at his previous home on St. Vital Road before moving to Matlock in 2005. In Matlock, Don made a cabin his castle. Building again a beautiful garage/work shop, canning/guest building, kitchen addition, a few sheds and a wonderful garden, he had a talent working with his hands. Don was a man of few words but had a heart of gold. Never an unkind word said about anyone and Don's love of animals showed in his compassion for Smokey and Willow, whom he treasured and both treasured him. The family would like to thank Dr. K. VanAmeyde and Dr. H. Singh (Health Sciences Centre), Dr. S. Wong (Seven Oaks Hospital) and Dr. R. Gera (Gimli) for their care of Don throughout the years. We would also like to thank the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, 4th Floor Unit 6 for their kindness and compassion shown to Don in the final week of his life. We will be forever grateful. As per Don's wishes, there will not be a formal service. A celebration of Don's life will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Matlock Recreational Centre, on Matlock Road in Matlock, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Johnson Memorial (Gimli) Hospital, Palliative Care, 120 6th Avenue, Gimli, MB, R0C 1B0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
