DONALD R. ABBOTT September 30, 1945 - June 18, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Don after a brief battle with cancer at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 67 years. Left to cherish Don's memory are his loving wife Carol, sister Mary Lynne (John), niece Kristine and her family. Don grew up in Thunder Bay and worked many years in the trucking industry as well as driving ambulance. Don worked 25 years for the City of Winnipeg as a Heavy Equipment Operator until his retirement. During his retirement he enjoyed having good friends to have coffee with and enjoyed of the attention from the staff at the local Pet Valu, Assiniboine Credit Union, Tim Horton's and Safeway; he also enjoyed doing landscaping and spending time with his companion Susie, his little dog. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Fire and Paramedic services and the staff and doctors at Concordia Hospital for all of their care and support. Respecting Don's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's name to CancerCare Manitoba. Don, you will be missed and you were a super employee and always concerned about what made the City tick and how to make it work better whether you were on days or working on the big snow hauling crew on nights you made my life a lot better as I knew Don was there, may you rest in peace as you earned it! - Posted by: Brian Graham (One of Don's Foreman over the many year's with the City of Winnipeg) on: Jul 01, 2013
