PERCY LOUIS In great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Percy on June 26, 2013, at his residence at Hillside Beach. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Shirley; daughters Leann (Chris) and Christy (Anthony); grandchildren Bradley, Aaron, Connie, Augustine, Signe, Lucas, Canaan and Azalea; sisters Blanche and Valerie (David); brother Roger (Celena); brother-in-law Raymond and nieces and nephews. Percy was predeceased by his loving mother Ellen; father Garnett; sisters Velma and baby Margaret; grandparents William and Tillie and niece Kim. Percy was a fun loving, genuine and unique person. He had a great sense of humour and loved a great joke, whether it was being told to him or it was being played on someone. He happily welcomed everyone into his home and was the happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He was always there willing to give a helping hand, whether it was for someone he knew or for a stranger. He loved reminiscing with the older generation about the people and days of long ago at the beach. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Michael's Church, Victoria Beach. Interment will follow in the Victoria Beach Cemetery. Percy, you were so loved and will be so missed, but you will remain in our hearts forever. The seeker seeks he knows not what. He wanders to and Fro. He roams the earthly world in vain. For what he doesn't know. He finally hears the Father call, my son it's time to go. He drops the axe, he drops the hammer, he drops the tools of trade, he rushes to the Fathers side, A heavenly home is made. A well- earned-rest is granted him, for gentle prayers he prayed. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

  • Percy was a wonderful friend to my brother Fred who predeceased him in 2008. Knowing Percy over the years, a kind, gentle, and caring man always ready to help a friend. Very proud of his family, and caring for his daughters horses. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to the Family on the loss of a great husband, father and grandfather. Unfortunately for us, we were in Kelowna when we got word of Percy's passing. A memorium from me will be sent to The East Beaches Animal Rescue on behalf of Percy. - Posted by: Bonnie Guarino (Wheeler) (Fred Wheeler's sister and friend to Percy.) on: Jul 15, 2013

  • Percy was friendly, caring, very skilled and always fair. I was lucky to have him as my handyman when I lived in Belair. He always had a solution for any problem. As I taught in Pine Falls when young, his stories of that period over a cup of coffee after his work and chat at cribbage club games was always most pleasant and picked up my day! My condolences to all the family. I'm sure he will be missed greatly by many. - Posted by: Grace Dansereau (Percy, my former handyman and friend.) on: Jun 29, 2013
