ROY DARREN CARSON-WALTON April 18, 1942 - June 30, 2013 With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Darren on June 30, 2013 at the Concordia Hospital. Darren leaves to mourn his loving wife Sheila, daughter Lisa (Chris), son Kyle, stepson Brendan, grandson Tiernan, siblings Lyn (Dennis), Shaun (Jill), Kathy (Keith), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family overseas, and friends. Darren was predeceased by his wife Roberta, parents Roy and Edith Walton, uncles Geoff and Dennis Walton, brother-in-law Jim, and in-laws George and Janet Shead. Darren was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England and spent many years of his youth in Skegness, England, working part-time as a bar tender at the Workman's Club, in addition to his work as a machinist. He came to Canada in 1974 and settled in Winnipeg near his younger brother Shaun. Darren was an accomplished journeyman machinist for over 40 years. He loved people, and loved to talk and joke with his work mates, friends, and anyone who would listen. Everyone who met Darren immediately loved his outgoing personality and sense of humour. A Celebration of Darren's life will be held Saturday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. at The Wheeler Funeral Home 1800 Day Street. The family wishes to thank the fire and paramedics, and the doctors and nurses of Concordia Hospital for their professional and outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street 204-224-1525

  • We are so happy that the Family got together in the middle of June for a Reunion. Darren was so happy to have us all together and he made a lovely speech after our meal on Saturday. As Lee said, he always phoned on birthdays. Christmas and special occasions and we're delighted that he and Sheila travelled to Ontario for Keith and Mélanie's wedding. We send our love to Sheila, Kyle, Lisa and family. - Posted by: Shaun and Jill Walton (Brother and Sister-In-Law) on: Jul 03, 2013

  • Uncle Darren cared deeply about family. Although we may not have always been in constant contact, a Christmas never went by without a phone call and when there were big milestones to be celebrated, the effort was made to get together, including my brother's wedding. I'm so thankful we managed to fit in one last family reunion last month. It was obvious how much it meant to Darren and the memories of that happy event are a gift I now have to hold onto. My thoughts are with Sheila, Kyle, Lisa and the rest of the family. - Posted by: Lee Walton (nephew) on: Jul 02, 2013
