SISTER ADRIENNE LEVESQUE, SNJM (SISTER LOUISE-ANTONIA) Sister Adrienne Lévesque died peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Actionmarguerite - St. Boniface (Centre Taché). She leaves to mourn: her sisters Armande Faso and Léa Fenez and also her brother Alfred (Anita). She was predeceased in death by her parents; her sisters Augustine, Solange, Agathe and Odile; and her brothers, Joseph, Armand, Louis, Gustave and Dieudonné. Adrienne, born on October 7, 1917 at Saint-Antoine, Aubigny, Manitoba, was the sixth child in the family of Antonia Bouchard and Louis Lévesque. As a child, she had a happy life on the paternal farm with her 12 brothers and sisters. She attended Provencher School in Aubigny. Strong and healthy, Adrienne was an asset to the family and an invaluable help to her mother with all the chores on a farm such as gardening, cooking and all other farm related responsibilities. It was during a family visit with their families in Aubigny that Adrienne met a few Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. In her early 20s, Adrienne worked for the Sisters of the Holy Names for three years at St. Mary's Academy and at Académie Saint-Joseph in Saint-Boniface. On July 24, 1942 Adrienne entered the novitiate in Outremont, Quebec and made her final vows on August 5, 1949. Upon her return to Manitoba, under the name of Sister Louise-Antonia, her skills in kitchen craft were greatly appreciated in our following convents: Sacré-Coeur, Immaculate Conception, Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Académie Saint-Joseph, Keewatin, Saint-Pierre-Jolys, Sainte-Agathe and St. Gerard. From 1970 to 1973, Adrienne was responsible for the cafeteria services at St. Mary's Academy, Académie Saint-Joseph and then one year at Sainte-Agathe. In 1974, Sister Adrienne returned to Académie Saint-Joseph in Saint-Boniface where her services were again invaluable in the cafeteria, in preparing trays for sisters in the infirmary and later at the laundry. Sister Adrienne was a hard worker and was gifted with an ability to figure out how new machines operated. She had always taken on new responsibilities with great energy. A prayer service will be held at Résidence Despins, 151 Despins Street, St. Boniface on Thursday, July 4 at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Celebration of the Mass of the Resurrection at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery, on Archibald Street.
