BEVERLEY MARLENE ANDERSON On June 28, 2013 Bev passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 66. Predeceased by her parents Thor and Olga Anderson she is survived by sisters Claudia (Ken) and Thorey (Ken); cherished nieces and nephews Jessica, Thor, Emma and Kenneth; aunts Bea and Artha; godchildren Mark, Heidi and Aynsley; lifelong friend and cousin Valerie; special cousins Gayle, Barbara, Stephen and Janice; and many other loving cousins. Bev was born January 7, 1947. She attended grade school at Sheffield School, Poplar Park and Libau School. After graduating from high school at Selkirk Collegiate Institute she spent several years at the University of Manitoba. Bev had a varied career working at MTS, Betel Home, Selkirk, Loomis, and Excel Credit just to name a few, but the job she enjoyed most was the year spent teaching in Grand Marais. She loved working with children and they loved her. Bev was a people person. She was always ready to offer her help and advice to all. Although beset with illness for the last several years she made the best of it. She was especially happy the last two years at 1010 where she was able to participate in gardening, shopping and social functions to an extent that had not been possible for some time. Her only regret was having to give up her beloved Kitton. At Bev's request cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Her ashes will be interred at St. James Anglican Church, Poplar Park. Many thanks to the staff and residents of 1010 and all the family whose patient support made Bev's last years the best they could be. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Bev was my next door neighbour for 5 years before she moved to 1010 and she was a delight to have for a neighbour. I adopted Bev's cat "Kitton" and she is a very healthy, happy and spoiled cat. I sent a Christmas card each year so that Bev would know her pet was still being loved and taken care of. Peace, Bev. - Posted by: Roxy (Friend) on: Feb 13, 2014

  • Will miss you, Bev, and always think of you with love. Ayns - Posted by: Aynsley Anderson (Goddaughter, cousin) on: Jul 05, 2013

  • I have enjoyed many visits with Bevvie. Many times we stopped by spur of the moment to find that she had delicious home-made baking ready. She loved to participate in social functions, even during times of serious health issues. Bev was in her element when asked her opinion on something and was not shy about adding her two cents. Bev was an energetic person and never gave up when she believed in something. I particularly enjoyed our in depth conversations on social issues of the day, world news and life in general. Fondly I will cherish the memories of partaking in and discussing our common joy of gardening, kids and cooking. I fondly remember having dinner at Bev's in the late 1970s and she served a mean bean salad that was out of this world! I still use this recipe and also her salsa recipe to this day. In more recent years, she enjoyed company and gardening, even the planning of planting her garden brought her much joy. She enjoyed the internet and in particular connecting with friends on FB, farmville and scrabble. She was quite the relentless scrabble player and will be forever remembered for her word savvy. She very much loved a furious but friendly game with her friend Joan from Long Island, NY. Bevvie was most interested in people and their travels and enjoyed hearing about everyone's travels to far away places..the more adventure, the better she enjoyed it. I enjoyed her intricate and interesting personality and will miss her..I was sad for some brief moments only. 1110 hours Bevvie. I know you arrived at that time and are now in a better place. Love and hugs, your cousin Gayleeeeeeeee - Posted by: Gayle and Anderson-Harrow (Cousins) on: Jul 03, 2013

  • I met Bev while I was working at Loomis. She had a beautiful smile on her face everyday and it showed in her telephone voice. People loved to chat with Bev. Last summer I had the chance to visit with Bev at 1010 and spend a day. She talked of the love for her family especially the second generation. She also took great pride in her little garden. What a blessing to have a little garden and spend time with nature. Rest in Peace Bev. Know that you will be missed. - Posted by: Marguerite Bell Toogood (Friend) on: Jul 03, 2013
