MICHAEL STONOGA August 25, 1919 - July 4, 2013 It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Michael Stonoga, at the age of 93 with his loved ones by his side. He will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Elaine (Bill) Uruski, and Gloria (Victor) Wallach, five grandchildren Teresa (Dan), Barclay (Shelley), Angela (Mark), Corey (Aileen), Shannon (Kelvin), nine great-grandchildren Courtney (Rob), Brendan, Damian, Bryce, Ashton, Mackenzie, Mackayla, Kolt and his new little angel, Claudia; his sister Steffie of Thunder Bay, ON. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Mary, four brothers Tony, John, Joe, and Frank, five sisters Tillie, Rose, Kay, Stella and Mary. Mike was raised on the family farm in Zbaraz. He chose farming as his life time career and stayed on the farm until the fall of 2011. At 92 he was still able to plant and harvest a bountiful garden of which he was so proud - "see I grew the biggest beets in the Interlake", he claimed. He loved every aspect of farming, whether it was clearing and working the land, milking the cows and then raising many flocks of turkeys. Mike's life was filled with much hard work, but he didn't do it alone. He married his sweetheart, Mary, on June 2, 1940. Together they worked hand in hand to realize their many dreams. His heart was broken when Mary passed away in August of 2009, after 69 years of marriage. Mike had many gifts and talents. He enjoyed his music and the violin was his special instrument. He played at many barn dances with a local band called the "Smiling Buckaroos". In his later years he spent many hours making beautiful pieces of garden furniture, Christmas nativity scenes, wishing wells, swans, tulips and lately dozens of pencil holders. These he gladly shared with family and anyone who came to visit him. His family was very important to him and he was proud to be a great-grandfather. He was always concerned and interested in the lives of all of his loved ones. The last year and a half Mike spent at the Red River Personal Care Home and the family would like to thank all the staff for the special care he received. Special thanks to Christine, Roberta, Norma, Thomas, Diane, Cindy, Gord, Sharon, Lee, Rhonda and Bev. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch. Father Paul Bisson and Father Darius Biliran will be officiating. Interment to follow at the St. Anthony Cemetery in Zbaraz, MB. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Anthony's Cemetery Fund, Box 446, Fisher Branch, MB or CancerCare Manitoba. Dad, we love you, we will miss you. May the angels welcome you to paradise. FISHER FUNERAL HOME INC. In care of arrangements. Fisher Branch, MB 204-372-6271 or 204-372-6803
