SHERRY TOUGAS Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, our beautiful Sherry passed away at home July 7, 2013. She will be greatly missed by her husband Jackson, daughter Laura, son Jonah, mom Suzanne, dad Victor and stepmom Gail, brothers Dan and Neil and sister Christine and their families. She also leaves many relatives, friends and in-laws who loved her dearly. The last few years have been a challenge, to say the least. The family would like to thank everyone for their support. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium, 1800 Day St., Winnipeg, 204-224-1525. Refreshments will follow the service. Flowers gratefully declined. Should you wish, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

  • I had the pleasure of working with Sherry in my classroom where she worked as a lunch supervisor. She was always kind and patient, with a beautiful smile on her face. I had the pleasure of teaching both Laura and Jonah and I know how much they love their mom, and that anyone who knew her will miss her.   • I have been a friend of Sherry's brother Dan for about 31 years now. My heart goes out to Dan, their Mom, Jackson, Laura and Jonah. Also of course to anyone who knew her and loved her and called her friend or family. This will be a hard time now, but know that in time it will be very easy to think of the good, great and wonderful times she brought to many lives. I know for myself, she brought the gift being just like another big sister who didn't like her little brother. We had stressful moments right along with great fits of laughter.   • Words cannot express how much my heart breaks for Jackson, Laura & Jonah. Sherry was a very close friend of mine when I first moved to Winnipeg in 1997. Many a night were spent with us five girls, causing trouble and making many great memories. Then, as it always does, time passed, we grew up, and we grew apart. Physically maybe, but never in heart.   • Sherry was not only my neice but she was like a second daughter to me. I will miss her so, so very much. I loved that girl with all of my heart. I would have done anything to take this illness away from her. She passed away way too young. I will miss our phone calls to each other. She was the best mom to her children and one of her fears that she said to me was that with her passing, she was scared that her family that she leaves behind, would be forgotten about. That is not about to happen. We will always keep Jackson and the kids in our life. Uncle Denis and I will miss her terribly, but she will be always in our hearts and our prayers.
