GERARD RENE (GERRY) VAN DAMME February 29, 1928 July 12, 2013 Peacefully, on Friday, July 12, 2013, Gerard Rene "Gerry" Van Damme of Cypress River, MB passed away at the Baldur Health Centre at the age of 85 years. Gerry leaves to mourn his passing his children: Yvonne (Gerard) DeSmet and Agnes (Gerald) Messner of Cypress River, Arthur (Mary Ann) of Beausejour, MB, Donald (Laurie) of Swan Lake, Edward (Diane) of Anola, MB, Elaine (Rhéal) Trudeau of Landmark, MB, 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Esther Verstraete of Glenboro and Irene (Albert) Claeys of Cypress River. Gerry was predeceased by his wife Alice (nee Hutlet) in 2009, granddaughter Brigitte Grenier, sister Elizabeth DeSmet and by brothers-in-law Marcel Verstraete and Leon DeSmet. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Alphonse Catholic Church, St. Alphonse, MB, with Father John McKenzie as celebrant. Prayers and eulogy will be held at 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Interment to follow in the St. Alphonse Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Gerry's memory to the Cypress River & Area Foundation, Box 86 Cypress River, MB R0K 0P0. On line condolences can be sent to jamiesonsfuneralser@mts.net.
