PETE FRIESEN Peter (Pete) Friesen, aged 92, of Altona, MB, formerly of Winnipeg and Halbstadt, passed away at the Altona Hospital on July 17, 2013. He is predeceased by two sisters: Susan and Martha, and three brothers: Erdman, Dave (Marion), and Jake (Helen). Pete is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 43 years, Anne (nee Hildebrand), three sisters Helen Wendland, Mary Martens and Anne (George) Laird, and three brothers: Henry, Ben (Nea), and John (Kathy). Pete served in the Canadian Military for almost four years. After a period of intensive training, he served as a Dispatch Rider on the European front in the Second World War. Upon his return home in 1945 he did some trucking and then settled in as a journeyman carpenter until his retirement in 1986. Funeral Service for Pete Friesen will be held at the Bergthaler Mennonite Church in Altona, on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Gretna Cemetery. In memory of Pete Friesen donations may be made to MCC Focus (food program). Arrangements entrusted to Wiebe Funeral Home Altona Ltd. 204-324-5404
