Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) CHARLES GESSNER Peacefully at the Selkirk General Hospital, Bill Gessner, aged 82, passed away with family by his side on July 31, 2013 on his 42nd wedding anniversary. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, daughter Gayle (Marcel), sons Edward and Ian (Julie) and his brother Willard. Bill worked at Ogilvie Flour Mills for 39 years, retiring in 1989. He then worked for the Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation until 1997. He was active in the community, serving as a 4-H leader for ten years and as a Cub leader. He loved history, contributing to several local history books and serving on several heritage committees. He was a long-standing member of the St. Andrews Church Vestry, where he acted as treasurer, people's warden and rector's warden. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 5 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrews-on-the-Red, St. Andrews, MB with Rev. Edmund Laldin and Rev. Kenn Garrity officiating. The family wishes to thank his home care team, the staff at Health Sciences Centre and Selkirk Hospital, Reverends Karen and Edmund Laldin and Rev. Kenn Garrity for their care and compassion over the past month. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parish of St. Andrew, c/o Peter Clarke, 3 St. Andrews Rd., St. Andrews, MB R1A 2Y4.
